have you measured the high horns off axis to check the dispersion? i had noticed them pictured that way round on the p-audio site but was never sure which way round they should actually go.

Do you have some frequency plots ?
it reminds me one of my last design. It's a very very successful box. I'm selling hundreds per month.
Wish you the same success !

We did off axis plots for testing but didn't save them

the 60x40 degree dispersion can be matched by the mid horn.

Yes , we saw that too, so we asked P-audio directly and they confirmed us that that is the corect placement.

It goes against everything I know about horn design but they are right.

looking again the pic is back the other way on their data sheet (link), but they show a box on their front page with this horn as you have it.

very confusing.

i agree it looks totally wrong.. i make no claim to understand horn design but comparing it visually to many other horns of known dispersion it seems backwards.

Great Job Mircea !

I see that you apply a big EQ on the 2 extremities of the spectrum, but seems logic when you look at your HF (deep) horn and the sensitivity of your MHF section. Otherwise, your EQs in the mid bands are very limited to get a flat response, meaning that your acoustical optimization is well done Clap
What's the size & weight of this cabinet ?

Looking at my production plan, I exaggerated a bit, real number is close to hundred per month (average), spread over 3 customers, covering North America, Africa, Europe and Asia.
However, I don't want to hijack Micea topic so I won't post a link here Embarrassed

Just another point about the dispersion thing... My EV CD horns are 60 x 40 and in the back of the horn there is a vertical slot. With the slot in that position (vertical) the horizontal is 60 degrees dispersion.

Have a look here...

http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=32

In the third picture you can see the horn throat and its vertical slot. That is as they come from the factory and its 60H.

There's no use in discussing the position of the HF horn. P-audio R&D confirmed it was correctly rotated for the 60 degree horizontal dispersion as odd as it may look.
