Me. I already have my SDJ's which are heavy, so towards the end of last year I started to think about light weight speakers. I'm doing a lot of gigs now, and I try to carry in as much as I can on my own. Anyway, the ideas developed from there. They are both Neo components in the cabs and although the new cab isn't completely light weight, it's lighter than the current model. As stated earlier, I just wanted to make something I hadn't done before, this is one of a few projects for this year. I also want to use metal flake on something else, so I'm getting used to the new material. I'm hoping they will look striking when the Gold bits are fitted.

B and C 15NW76 and DE950. The Horn is an earlier one of mine that was used in the Reflekta MX900, all held together with a passive x/o.

Well, with so many things being copied or all ready done, it's good to find something that has some value and is worthwhile pursuing. The shape has been around for ages, but not applied to anything in our business.

why is active ideal for DJ monitors? i think otherwise, more cable runs on stage, settings open to fiddly fingers, etc.

Not my favourite personally.

If they are run actively through 4core, everyone is happy!

As a DJ I prefer active, I feel I have the control of them, and I know there won't be a single bit of delay between them and FOH, so I know my mixes will be ok.

not wishing to be argumentative - but surely as electronic signals travel at [~] the speed of light, there would be no measurable delay between active, and passive...

and you will probably find that the foh IS delayed on most systems.. most modern rigs involve horns and delays by design,

and any distance between your position and the FOH, and the monitors providing they are at a different location, will cause two different delays relative to your ears

And regardless of that, it doesn't matter, main thing is your monitors are are close to as possible to your decks time, not FOH! That's what you are mixing.

From personal experience you would be surprised the ammount of passive monitors I have used that are out of time with what I am hearing in the headphones.  Has never happened with active. That's the main reason I prefer active.

Your logic is lacking. Powered and unpowered speakers may both be connected to digital devices (mixers or system processors) that may intentionally or unintentionally add delay to the signal.
