Topic: New Rig BuildPosted: 16 January 2009 at 12:26am |

Hello all,
New to the forum, have been a reader/lurker for some time now, finally going to take the plunge and get constructing! Rig will have Drum & Bass and Dubstep through it, some Breaks and Electro if required, not really sure about any live bands, mainly DJ's. After careful consideration, I plan to build a two stack setup, cater for 600-800 people, also we have a great following of outdoor parties here in New Zealand so the system will go outdoors when allowed ![]() Subs 30~Hz - 80Hz - WSXtra copies, Void V18-1000 loaded - 4 coupled per stack (8 total) Kick Section 80Hz - 180Hz - HD15, PD154 loaded - 4 coupled per stack (8 total) above WSXtras Mid/Tops 180Hz - 20kHz - Porn Horns - 2 per stack (4 total) I have a feeling from what I've read, the 4 HD15's each side will keep up well with the WSXtras and provide the height I need to get the Porn Horns up above the crowds heads. Amping and cable hardware will come at a later date once the cabs have been built and loaded. Any input greatly appreciated as yes... I has the n00b stamp on my forehead but thats how ya learn innit?!Regards James PS Insomniac, your work is the dogs bo11ocks! TDA Audio - another one for some great work in progress pictures. |

Its a long way for everything to be shipped!!! Porn horns are my only real want/wish for the project at this stage that may not eventuate, if there is a comparable DIY mid top cab around that would be worth looking at Im all ears! MT121 version caught my interest until the V2 porn horns became known... |

Sounds good :) Do look at the prices of amps sooner rather than later! You will probably find your total bill for amplification coming to around twice the cost of drivers+wood+fixings+paint+cables.
You will have a big rig when your done so consider finishing half (one full stack) first. It would still sorta split down into two smaller stereo pairs :) Alf |

Thank you for the words & advice people, I like the idea for 1/2 of the plan initially, then duplicate it to see where it'll end up. Cheers James |

EP2500's are pretty cheap in the souther hemisphere :) We're close to china you see!
Porn horns will be mega $$$ down here (aus/nz) Maybe look at the selenium plans, mt12's or even smt12 boxes:) |

Aside from building my Metaphor studio monitors this week, I've been in CAD mode drawing up 3-D models for the HD-15 and WSX cabs.
Plan on getting quotes locally for the router cutting, hope to supply the company with the wood, individual part files and recieve back all the wood cut to size, bevels done ready for glue and screw mission. I've come around on the porn horn idea a little, think some MT122's will be a better first up option, still plan 2 per stack (4 total) Cheers James |
