Have just removed 3 LS400's from an installation and taken out the drivers which are absolutely frazzled!
Have been quoted £150+ VAT for recones so wondering if there's any alternatives? I realise that you 'should' use the 'correct' driver but the bins will be used for low key hire so its not 'absolutely essential' they perform as per expected. For instance to test the amps we took out we connected a small double 18 bassin into the system to test the sub output on the nexo amps and it sounded fine. Any ideas? Thanks |

Don't the LS rely on the electronics for protection and sound shaping like the PS? If so, it pays to use the proper drivers. I believe Blue Aran does suitable recones.

Nope Blue Arran dont, the speaker in the bin is a custom made B & C speaker for Nexo. So you have to go to a Nexo approved recone centre. And obviously the electronics didnt do a proper job on protecting the drivers as they're completely shot! Strange thing is they were powered by correct Nexo amps so everything should have been fine really.

If you search on here, there is a list of the exact drivers used in Nexo PS/LS systems somewhere. They're all generic drivers with "nexo" planted on them, and very minor tweaks to the specs from what I remember.....in this instance, the closest equivalent re-cone should be OK.....Nexo aren't being entirely honest when they say that the drivers are custom made for them I don't think.....
Is there a replacement for Fuzion as service centre for the UK for Nexo? |

I have the Nexo Recone kits for these.
There are two different types, depending on the serial number of the box. Serial numbers up to 01316 are early, 01317 onwards are late.
The driver in an LS400 is an 'off the shelf' RCF or B&C (depending on serial number) chassis, but the software (the actual cone) is custom made for Nexo. Fuzion was the UK Nexo Service centre and since their demise last year I am responsible for disposing of the stock that they held. I have 4 remaining kits for the early Driver, and 2 remaining kits for the later driver. £60 Early, £80 Late. Including delivery. Also 1 last brand new complete driver, later type. £220 Delivered. The list of drivers used in Nexo cabs that is referred to above is here: There is a fair amount of incorrect information and speculation in that thread, so make of it what you will. You'll see that the LS400 is not listed though. If you need help with the LS400 recones, or anything else Nexo, just give me a shout and I'll do my best to help. ok the serial numbers are 1850 + so they're the later ones which give a problem as you've only got 2 of those recone kits and i need 3 !! Thing is I can get 4 B & C 12ph32-8 speakers for around £250.
Would they not do a job - as I said the speakers would be for general pa hire so we're not looking at people with output charts etc.

The LS400, being a 6th order band pass, should really only be used with the original driver. If you have the original TSP at hand you could try something that comes realy close, but it probably won't the best this cab can do.

They're easy, it's the standard B&C DE75/750 diaphragm.
http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?search=mmd3&x=0&y=0&br=Any+Brand&cs=Any+Category&stk=Any+Stock+Availability&perp=10 You will want the non-TN version with the polymer surround and choose spade terminals or push terminals depending on what's in the cab, I can't remember.

None of those left I'm afraid - that's the NH75 R/K. The PS15 spares went fast. I think there is one LF Recone kit left but that's it. There are a couple of NH91 diaphragms for the R2s left, but they are don't fit the original PS15. What Chris said above about the DE75 is accurate, and probably your best bet. |

I'll have to check that there aren't any more, but last time I checked I saw just 2 recone kits. The 12ph32-8 you mention is a totally different driver. Sure, it's 12" so it will fit the hole, and it's made by B&C but that's where the similarity ends. It's only a 250w rated driver, with a 2.5" VC. I would look at either the 12HPL76 (now discontinued) or the current 12NDL76 if you want something closer to the original that won't rip itself to bits the minute you put a bit of power through the box.

If you can be bothered, get your tape measure out, stick the dimensions of the LS400 into WinISD and that'll help you select the closest off-the-shelf driver.
