Hi Guys,

I've just done a live band gig and have blown the 8 inch driver in one of my old, very expensive NEXO PS8 boxes.. Burned voice coil (stupidly, I didn't have the sense leads connected for protection). Does anyone know where I can find the exact replacement speaker anywhere in the world that's affordable? I'll happily pay a fair bit for shipping if I have to. Thing is, if it's branded Nexo, it's literally hundreds of dollars. But if it's the B&C one (that's the original supplier of course that Nexo used, prior to the Nexo $$ sticker going on!), it's cheap enough to buy. I've never really been in the components buying scene, and haven't seen one for ages. Any tips on where I could get one on the cheap would be incredibly well appreciated. I may need two actually, cos it'll sound different to my other old PS8 box now.

Of course I could try a recone myself - that would probably be the cheapest, but I don't know where to get those either, and if the whole speaker doesn't cost much more, I'd rather just go with that. Does it matter if the recone kit is slightly different? It's just a paper cone after all and the same copper coil - I thought the expensive bit (the whole Nexo sound, as such) was contained in the magnet etc which doesn't get changed..? So any 8" Nexo recone kit should do, and sound identical - is that totally wrong?

My blown model is a B&C HPB8ND1.0, but the closest I can find so far is a B&C 8NDL51 - I'm sure that's way different - but will the cone kit just literally be the same? They look identical..!

Thanks Very Much,
Stu Mur

Yes it's an OEM 8NDL51 (well, should be an OEM) on the PS8. So i guess if you find the recone of 8NDL51 it will work.

Thanks for that Combe. So you mean quite literally if I grab an 8NDL51 from B&C (either the whole speaker or their recone kit), this will be the exact same speaker and specification that Nexo put in the PS8 boxes - just without a Nexo sticker on.. no difference in specifications at all?

Well it should be different, Nexo use OEM speakers, but nobody knows which speakers in Nexo boxes are really OEM and which are the same as the one you can find in the market.
I put 8NDL51 in some PS8 and didn't heard a difference (and didn't blown speakers), but i did not made comparison side by side and no measures either.

They sprinkle magic Nexo dust over them which makes them louder and increases the price by quite a margin LOL
I would stick 8NDL51 in there. Complete driver is probably cheaper than a Nexo recone.
It's just bits of paper flapping about in a box.

For the HF i think you can always put the one of the market.
For the lows it depends. For exemple for the PS10R2 it's really an OEM 10" (a B&C 10NW64 or 10NDL64 i think).

Years later I finally get back online.. Thank you mate.. I don't suppose you happen to know the speaker or recone Nexo uses for their LS400 sub box with the 12-inch speaker in it? It's actually a 6-ohm speaker and I'm having trouble finding either a complete speaker or a recone anywhere that comes in at 6-ohms. They all seem to be either 8-ohms or 4-ohms.. I think the LS400 sub comes with either a HPB12/4 ND-2, or a 05HPB12ND in it, if that helps?
