43Hz is about the point of max excursion for a driver in that box, same for the pd2150 just that the oberton xb1600 is a higher 'q' driver and therefore potentially needs less Volts to move the cone a given distance. The Oberton may also be maintaining it's bl over a larger range of movement so slams into the end stops rather than more gracefully tailing off. You will likely find that the oberton 1600 has more output at 43Hz than the pd or 1500 for a given input. The difference in output between 1300 and 2000 Watts is probably little more than 1.5dB, any percieved extra than that is going to be distortion. If your happy with the way it sounds with 1300 Watts then set the limiters on the new amps to that level and reduce the highpass filters back down until the below box tuning excursion becomes an issue. |

interesting thread, ive been shot down by many on sp, when I said the 1600, was not the best in a scoop, but the 1500 was better suited.
when I said the 18 sound 2400 was a killer driver based on price vs performance, I was also shot down and told that the 2400 was crap, and I did not no what I was talking about... I also don't agree with the compare this driver to that debate... you need to break down drivers in to a budget vs performance. can an oberton 1500 or the 18 sound 2400 keep up or out play an 18 sound 9601... god no. but that said is it fair to compare these to a 9601... no as the 9601 cost twice as much, so it should be a better driver.. when comparing drivers you need to look at cheap, mid priced, high end.. can a cheap driver outperform a high end no.... but if you need a driver to suit your pocket, then compare price vs performance... also you need to compare drivers best suited to each type of scoop, small, medium, big, massive chambers...
