*i have posted this in Car audio aswell but still think it fits in both sections.*

i posted in the advanced section about having an oddly shaped sealed enclosure asking if it would have any effect on the driver it's self or the actual sound quality output. well here is a rough 3D drawing of the situation... sealed fiberglass/carbon fiber box formed around the rear strut/shock bells or in other words, replacing the interior rear quater panels. the colored levels of blue are depth of where the strut/shock bells would be found being wrapped by the enclosure. dealing with about .75ft^3 *roughly 21.25L* sealed enclosures with reverse mount drivers, used range being 10-70hz so the cutback of lowered performance on frequencies about 80hz means nothing as the drivers will be crossed at 70. other then the microscopic embalance of the cone due to the strut/shock bells being closer to the one part of the cone verses another. being that sealed enclosures are really more dependent on the ambient air within the enclosure, this somewhat oddly shaped box should be just fine yes? especialy dealing with JBL's W10GTI and it's corrective magnetic design which would basicly throw the idea of microscopic embalanced cone slightly out the window...

Below 100hz,Sealed properly,it will work.

There is plenty of talk about uneven cone loading, but no definative proof. If it was an issue wed see lots of VC scraping failures IMAO.

i could see it possibly effecting higher frequencies... but i couldn't imagen it effecting lower frequencies... kinda hard to effect something so large.

thanks mike.
