IF it is 160cm then the delay should be: 4.658993 milliseconds

Workings:
Speed of sound at 20dC is 343.4218310025016 meters per second
343.421831/214.6386443=1.6m
1second/214.6386443-0.004658993
So 1.6 meters takes 0.004658993 seconds or 4.658993 milliseconds

Download some demo software from Smaart, ETF or Speakerworkshop (freeware but temperamental, needs the right soundcard for a stable pulse response, good for impedance measurements) and use your PC mic to line up the impulse response peaks. Even better line up the phase response, you will need an accurate mic, the Panasonic capsules can do a decent job for around £10.
Lining up the distance from the voice coils is an approximation at best due to the effects of group delay.

cool, thanks for the help.. its not really possible at the minute to get a pc and equipment to get everything spot on, i know thats the right way to go when i can tho.. 160 cm approximation will have to be good enough for now

Yea, wrighty said its just over 1.6meters aswell

so i'd say 4.66ms should be good enough

Or for most jobs 1ms per ft is probably accurate enough.

does this mean that we should delay the mid-tops (in a two way system) by approximately 4.66ms?
well assuming that we're using JBL SRX115 (bass reflex congfig)  for the mid tops.....
