Hi!
Most subs, also sealed boxed, doesn't sound very good crossed above ~125Hz. I'm wondering what makes the PD 186 design (which I never heard to confirm) playable ("with no coloration", as it says) up to 250Hz. Is it the driver's specs? The geometry? Voodoo? :-) What type of sub (preferably high eff. sub) plays the highest, BTW? Thanks! Adam |

If it plays that high, it's not a sub! 250Hz is definitely not sub, not really bass either, you're up into low mids.
It's all down to lots of things, the driver, the type of enclosure, the details as to how that enclosure is implemented. Generally you'll have most luck getting a sealed or reflex enclosure to play highest as you're only limited by the driver and resonances in the rear chamber which can be dealt with. |

ceharden,
Thanks, but I asked how to make it work in a horn, I know it can be done in regular enclosures.

it honks a lot over 125hz....and why would you want the low mids coming out of subs anyways?!? will just make the vocals synths etc etc sound all rumbly and sh*te!!

Well, I assumed that this is different in this design since Rog says it got no coloration up to 250Hz..

afraid not. regardless of coloration etc, things start getting directional there, and with the 186, there isnt any directivity control in the form of a flare or whatever. I used mine to 100hz on dancey stuff, or 125hz on live stuff crossed to double 12" horn for large stuff, or single 15" reflex for smaller stuff.
wouldnt mind building a load again, they are quite fun :)
