the amp(s) will be used for bass duty, and likely more often than not, run from standard plug sockets. at the moment i have 10 bins, eventually i want to add another 2 making 12 in total so the amp(s) need to be capable of powering 12 v-18's,
It would also be quite nice if i could run my kicks ( 4x pd 1550's) off one of the channels to save me buying a possible 3rd amp,

Iv shortlisted the amps that are in and just above my price range, and im hoping somebody can help me make up my mind on what will be the best solution and ultimately what will sound best

option 1:
2 matrix xt10000mf's 2ohm version doing 4 v-18's on 3 channels and the pd's on the 4th

option 2:
3 matrix xt10000mf's standard just powering the v-18's 2 per channel at 4 ohm

option 3:
mc2 e100 also doing 4 v-18's on 3 channels and the pd's on the 4th

option 4:
2-3 void infinite 8 v2's or 2-3 crest ca18 if i can find them in good enough condition at a reasonable price

option 5:
6x jbl mpx 1200 bridged per pair of v-18's

will look forward to hearing what you guys think
matt

I'm actually running comps on one side of my PCM13 and I have to say I'm seriously impressed from my testing so far. I did a direct comparison between the PQM13 and an XT800 running into a pair of BMS 4590p coax comps. Afterwards I sold the XT800...

For running 12 x 18-v1000s I'd probably opt for 3 x SAE PCM18, especially if you're running from 13A sockets. With two drivers per channel there's plenty of power, the amp would have an easy life and in the worst-case scenario the channels are 2-ohm stable. Probably works out the most reliable / cost effective option.

do sae do a small amp for driving comps ?

the smallest size I can see is the 650 and its 650 a side at 8 ohms and 1000 a side at 4 ohms stereo

any chance of a 5-800 watt amp total ??

250-400 a side  at 4 ohm stereo ??

im not too sure about the sae amps, i really like the idea of a uk made amp and im definately considering using matrix again, if the 2ohm 10000mf can do as well as the inf8 then i think a pair of them will be the way to go, plus it should all match nicely as i am using a xt 6004 for my tops already, how would the mc2 e100 compare to a pair of 10k matrix  in 2 ohm?

I was just thinking if you're limited to using 13A sockets you might benefit from using 3 slightly smaller amps than a couple of really big amps so you can spread the load over more sockets. Running more bins per amp will obviously pull more current. Another option could be something like the FFA 10000 which has a separate supply for each channel?

I avoid running amps at 2 ohm anyway. I keep that option for emergencies only! Personal preference of course...

Matching amps is always nice though, it was a good excuse for swapping my XT6004 for the PQM13 Wink
