Hi everybody.

I`m a bit newbie in building any speaker cabinets. I want to ask skilled people for help.

I do outdoor distoteques and I need something, that will  provide really strong bass kicks. I have mid-tops that have enough power, but I need something under them.

Is better subwoofer or horn platform ?

I can choose between 18" and 22" diameter speakers. Which one I should choose ?

I was thinking about using 1850 Folded Horn. Please, could you explain what is the difference between 1850 folded horn and 186 Horn ?

Thank you for answearing me.
Krust

A stack of 4 1850 horns should work well for you

how many cabs are you planning on building.  Horns really need to be used in multiples per side.

I thought about building 2 cabs. I haven`t money for building more than 2. Later, I will add another 2.

I reckon your going to be best off building an X1 to start with, or perhaps an even simpler Bass Reflex type Cab.

2x 18 inch super scoopers with 18 inch driver in each would be better and easier to move around than the wardrobe sized 21 inch scoops.

your better off putting 21's in nice big reflex cabs working from 80hz down and putting some power into them

and have 15's or 18;s doing all the punchy stuff

im sure toxic is going to disagree with me again though

I'm not too keen on 21 inchers,as they are costly and the recone is very expensive.

Turbosound has 21 inch and even 24 inch horn bass bins though, but cost a ton.

Better off with double 18 inch reflex then[more surface area and more air] than single 21 inch reflex.

Double 18 inch reflex is roughly same size as single 18 inch scoop, and if the double 18 inch reflex is properly powered and is a good design , can beat the 18 inch scoop.

Why have a double 18" reflex? if there are two singles instead, they would be easier to carry (i can manage mine on my own, on stairs as well - just about) and they'll be more flexible for smaller setups.

For versatility, easy of build/transport it's hard to beat a good 18" reflex design.  Get it right and you can get 35-160Hz out of one.  Important things are a good driver and a really solid (well braced) cab.

But the man said he does outdoor disco's... and reflexes don't "normally" cut it outside...

In small hall's, yes, 2x18 reflex a side (with enuff power) marvellous, but In larger halls  and outside I keep hearing about dudes blowing their  reflex bins  cos'  the reflex b'line evaporates outside real quick.

Where as 1k XB/PD scoops will tear up inside or out.

IMHO
