I've been crossing the 12" horn over at between 119 and 125 Hz and its ok with that. Its -3dB point is around 128Hz IIRC.

I've mouded the phase plug around the P Audio SN12 B. Its a tight fit and I'm not sure if any other drivers profile will fit.

The 12" horn comes with its own sealed rear chamber this time.

Don't know how may people it will play to. Difficult question. Yes its going to be louder than a MT121. The clue here is that I'm having to add 2dB to the HF driver to get it to keep up with the 12" horn. And the HF drivers I'm using are about 105 to 106 dB 1w/1m. So its a loud 12" horn.

Might have to go the 2" throat with 4" dia so it can keep up with the 12. But really wanted to use a 1.5" with 3" dia to get up to around 17 kHz. If I have to use a 4" dia on a 2" throat then it might need bullets or a HF driver above it and it starts to get complicated and expensive. Think Martin F2.

Sounds very good Rog,  I've been trying to design a 12" horn but somehow I don't think I'd match anything you'll do!  Will have to compare the SN12B if I can get hold of one with my drivers.  You never know, they might work.  Shame cos one is the 12MH32, I reckon a good driver for this application and the other a 12NDL76, not the smoothest but plenty of output and as light as an SN12B.

I've also got some of the 18Sound elliptical 1.4" flares (60x40) which I'd like to use on top. (Maybe 18Sound Driver too) Would this be a good combo?

As an aside I was mixing on and trying to get the setup right on a F1/F2 system tonight.  EQ'ed it flat with ETF's software and it ripped my head off, had to back the top end off.  Didn't quite get that right!  Sounded ok in the end but it's all a bit old and tired, especially the F2B's.  Reckon some of these horns might make a nice replacement top end tho.

Sorry about all the questions, just getting excited at the prospect of some rather tasty new mid-tops!

Got it.

Played again with the HF horn and got it pretty flat up to 18KHz.

The only affordable and light compression driver thats up to the job is the Beyma CP 755 Nd. Its a loud and good sounding driver. Tried the B&C equivalent and its not quite as good.

Will post the plots soon and also will make some LMS programs avaliable for most of the popular LMS units. That way you can just download the program and know that you porn horn is flat. This is helped by the 12" horn having its own chamber that comes with the kit. And if you use the same drivers I did then there are no variables and your'e get the same plot I did. Might even do a passive 2 way crossover.

well you seem to have saved me the need build a kick bin between my 1850s and phillishaves. Seems like I'll just replace the whole mid-top.

A very small point but my rebadged XTA doesn't have network connectivity so do you think you could post the parametric/delay/filter setting so that I can manually put them in when the new porn horns are for sale.

late february was the estimation. Apparently the phase plug is a strange looking thing and the box is very different to the last version? There's some photos down at void if I can be bothered to travel.

I wonder if the phase plug is very rigid? Can it withstand the force of flying beer bottles etc.

I take it a speaker grill is recommended?
