Just wondering whether one of these type of things :-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/80W-DC-12V-Car-Power-Supply-Adapter-Charger-Laptop-/170616059674?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopAccessories_PowerSupplies&hash=item27b982771a

..... claiming to deliver 24V at up to 3.5A - might work OK for 1 or 2 channels of a Tripath 2050 amplifier ? Anyone tried it ? Or investigated it ?

Now almost certainly these will be designed for a fairly constant current draw (laptop use), so not sure how they might cope with transient draw ....

Might get around to putting one up on my mate's scope .... need to find a dummy load I guess.
Don't want any weirdness - switching artifacts etc that wouldn't trouble a laptop's DC input, but might be horrible with an audio amplifier. OTOH, a decent-size capacitor across the o/p might fix any such nastiness, and might also enhance the transient capability. So .... question :-
How would you go about making a soft-start type circuit to stop the gizmo seeing the cap as a short on power-up ?
