I wouldnt necessarily be put off by the aparent lack of power of the xr3801, tone will be superb. The RA series were a cheaper line no where near the xr. I wouldnt use the 1850 on bass or the 2450 for that matter. T amp really do thump, many reports that the Camco does not do so well on sub, but that is only from reading not owning.
We once had 4 x SR707 bridged on 8 scoops and they were thunderous.

That sounds like a 3801 that needs to go and see the amp doctor to me. I have *never* heard of anyone giving a pile of subs the full beans of a 3801 and thinking "Hmm, this needs a bit more to come alive" ![]() Also, off-topic, this is amazing! A thread Line Array hasn't stuck his comically uninformed oar into yet! |

At least a constipated bull would not be coming out with as much crap and rubbish that he does----every now and then this forum tends to attract people with a major problem that will just not go away and he seems to be the ultimate one for 2025.

I've had a look about for SAE's.. The only guy selling 1450's that I can find wants 650 per unit, which I politely declined..!!

The 3801 has very recently been fully serviced, and always been well looked after by Zenworks.. The only thing I can think of is that the spur the system was running off was overloaded by too much stuff, and the amp not getting enough current maybe, but that's clutching at straws. Your 100% sure you wired the bins correctly? As if you have even one driver wired wrong / out of phase the amp will be working its tits of and appearing to do shit all.

Or that all the drivers are the correct polarity, wouldn’t be the first time a driver has made it out of a factory with the VC wired up bass ackwards…

Fane 18xb and that c-audio amp should be a pucker match! Can remember having one of them amps years back, used to run with the red lights flickering all night at small rave nights and never disappointed me. Fairly sure I was using fane xbs in reflex back then too. Can remember the handles on the cabs getting warm too so I’m in no doubt that amp can push out some power. As said above check all polarity on cables even the drivers too. I can’t see you getting much audible advantages with another amp in terms of loudness.
Save up get another set of bins and another amp if you want more sound / pressure/ volume

Sooo...
I ran the system for the first time properly at a three day festy last weekend, with the subs on the end of a borrowed FFA 3600. There's definitely no issues with the subs themselves, and there were lots of compliments from the client and crowd about the sound/bass. Mid/tops were some new boxes I finished making literally the night before the gig ![]() Since I got back I've bought an EV P3000, and briefly tested it vs the 3801. Quite a marked difference in output. Maybe there is an issue with the 3801. It's going for a full service, then up for sale.
