I would also add that the power supply for amps is really important too. I've lost count of the times I've seen a massive wall of impressive looking brightly coloured horn bins powered by insufficient amps, but worse is the use of woefully underpowered generators. Having good amps and speakers is pretty pointless if the amps don't get enough clean juice, and the voltage sagging under load leads to the volume levels pumping and dumping, with distortion in the upper frequencies to boot.

Clipping & distortion. ![]() The "2000W" Skytec amp I mentioned in another thread had what looked like a 250VA transformer. Magyk watts don't exist... |
