Hi,
I have a pair of Superscoops on their way, which I'm gonna load with Void V18-1000. Just wanted to know if someone who's had experience with the same setup could give advice on what crossover points to use.

I have 2 HD15 for kicks.
The HPF is a 12 dB/oct Butterworth.
The LPF is a 24dB/oct Linkwitz-Riley.

The driver's spec sheet doesn't mention usable range as every other brand, just states the FS is 35Hz.
From what I've read of the FS it should be where the usable range starts without risk of overexcursion, isn't it?
But I've seen specs for other bass drivers and the usable range starts sometimes below and sometimes above the FS. So don't really understand how this works.

Also, according to this thread the usable range on the tested scoops is between 40Hz and 80Hz: https://forum.speakerplans.com/pd1850-vs-18soundlw2400_topic91285_page1.html?KW=scoop+graph

So right now I'm inclined to set a range of 40-80 for the scoops. And on the EQ:
-Put some boost on the 80 band
-12dB reduction on the  20 and 25 bands to protect from overexcursion. And a slighter reduction on 30?

Can anyone give some input on this? It's for a Reggae Sound System.
Thank you in advance. Appreciate any help.

All depends on your taste  how you like it to sound, leave numbers out of it until you turn em upSmile
Some strictly reggae  sounds play their scoops high and prefer the sound, I personally would use the hd15s as low as they go and use that as a guide for lowpass. Hp 35 for a pairp 30 for four, again open to experiment.

Hey Sypa and Natty,
Thanks for the replies!
I understand your point on personal taste for the crossover between Scoop and kicks. However, for the HPF for the scoop I was wondering more from a driver safety point of view. Is 35 safe to operate? I can't find usable frequency figures for this driver anywhere, and I don't wanna risk over excursion.

Also, why would having more than 1 driver allow to change de HPF settings?

Thanks again if anyone has more input!

When four scoops are played together they play as one speaker/horn & will play lower.

not such big problem for the lowest point I made test (by ears) on different cut-off from 30 to 40hz on super scoop loaded with drivers with an higher fs than the suggested one (pd1850 or void) but not big problems or unsafe behaivor, to me is much more dangeurs the hig parts.... ehy memba that im not so techinal so someone can tell you more!

I would never HPF Scoops at 30Hz.

But then again, I like them still working at the end of the night.

when the cutoff is mentioned, the actual slope never is....
Or rarely anyway.
