I’m making a DM2 to use as a drum fill.
Here’s some build pictures so far.

A bit more to do, but its looking good. It’s quite large! Needs filling and sanding, plus handles and other hardware. Waiting for parts to arrive, then should be able to continue in the week.
Will be loaded with fane drivers.

Bloody nice work GAZ!

..maybe a tickle of bracing in there too? A baton from between to 15"s to the back and maybe some triangles to stiffen it up a little bit as it looks like you've already nailed it together

I did wonder about bracing, but as there’s none on the plan I thought I’d try it first and see what happens. Seems a pretty solid cab, the midrange chamber creates some bracing too. I’m going to be adding some additional ply to the bottom as I’m going to put heavy duty castors on it.

I've been on this forum a while now, but never seen one of these built.

I'm interested to hear what you think of the sound as a stand alone full range box.

Keep pushing on, things are gonna get better.

I’ve not seen any built either. Hopefully by next weekend I’ll have it finished, I’m quite looking forward to hear it for the first time.
My guess as to why there’s not more around is probably it’s size, it’s a big old thing! You’d never move it on your own, and it’s already got some weight to it, by the time it’s loaded with drivers and got all it’s other hardware on its going to be properly heavy!
Still, nothing some heavy duty castors and a tail lift can’t fix.

Very nice. What drivers are you loading them with?

Fane colossus 15b and a CD150. I want studio 10’s but I can’t get any so I’m putting eminence deltas in for now and I’ll change them for fanes if some come along. The main problem I’ve found is being able to get the 10’s in 16 ohm.

Yes it should be able to punch above even the drummers that play the drums like they hate them!

It's been mentioned about bracing, but I would add a towel hook for the drummer's dribble towel.

NIce!

This looks very good, it feels proper, old school, and just plain nice, no fancy this or that, just plain good old rock and roll, It's the format and the loading that does it i guess, the genuine feel of the thing.

Thanks for sharing GAZ, very nice, and I bet it will sound just right.

Did a bit more, cab filled, sanded and sprayed. Going to stipple roller tomorrow and maybe load it up too depending on what time I get to start in the morning!

And a quick drop in of all the hardware before I painted it to check all the holes were the correct size.

Of course! It has its own dedicated rack of 3 PPX’s that I’m working on in between filler/paint drying. Can’t wait to hear it now.

I only built the one as it’s intended purpose is to use as a drum fill.
However the thought has crossed my mind more than once!

I like it! Once you get it in use I'm interested how the single 1" keeps up with the rest though... ...it's got a big job!

I assume if you cross the comp as high as you can, it should be able to keep up.

Let us know how it sounds, fancy building a pair for my factory system :)

Got quite a bit more done today. Finished the speakon input, and did the stipple coat on everything apart from the bottom and the baffle.

Still more to do, but was finished enough to load it and wire up all drivers so....

looks really good!

So temporary wired the amp rack up to it, set up the crossover and fed it some signal.
Got everything dialled in and cranked it up a little bit. A warm fuzzy feeling came over me as everything in the lockup rattled! Couldn’t really wind it up today as the landlord was in next door but it sounds absolutely mint!
It sounds like a stack of speakers rather than just one! Very nice full range sound. The fane CD 150 has no problem Keeping up with everything else. Well pleased so far!

Very nice work!

Reminds me a bit of a pair Community CSX70's I used to have. Effortless SPL, pretty hard to move around though.

Hello, very beautiful, I would like to build two, for my hifi system. I would like to use passive cross-over. Can you tell me where to find the filter scheme? Thank you.

Lovely job!
Reminds me of the EAW 253e,  except they used twin 7" for mids.
Robbo sold us a pair in 2004 that had come off a cruise ship,  they were ace!
Castors on the bottom rear cut-away only, but with handles on the top rear edge...simple to move about, but a Deffo a 3-man throw onto subs for small rig/sidefill duties.
We regularly ran a pair for drumfills and DJ monitors and they never disappointed!!
Top work...  but you will end up building another one 😉
