Could a person assume that these are fairly similar sounding designs? Or are they functionally different? I don’t unstand enough about horns to tell how similar they may function.
I have not seen or heard either but I’m looking to build some boxes with a powerful midbass output that would lend it self well to psytrance music.  I have read a few reviews of people using the es18 for psytrance with good success but the recommended drivers are not available in my country. I can get the recommended cubo drivers locally. Obviously the cubo is a 15 vs the 18 in the es18 but the cubo has an option to build it larger for 18’s as well.

Can anyone help me out with this? Super appreciate it

They're fairly different, the ES18 is tuned to roughly 50 Hz and is a 4th order band pass horn. Cubo Kick is tuned to 70 - 80 Hz and is a 6th order band pass horn. The ES18 could be used stand alone for psytrance without a separate bass bin, it can also be used as a kick. Cubo Kick is supposed to take over from a bass bin and is solely optimized for kick duty.

thank you! That’s excately what I was looking for, but maybe not what I was hoping for. The kubo drivers are available locally but the es18 recommended ones are out of country and it’s expensive shipping and duty to get them here. I’ll have to research if there are suitable options in something I can get here
Thanks again

You'll find that the reccomended driver for the ES18 is not available in alot of countries. This led to alot of testing to find a suitable alternative which ultimately concluded that the PD186 is the optimal driver for the ES18 although you can use an Eminence (you'd have to consult the thread for the exact model) which would also sound nice

Thanks Juno... yeah from my research I more of less came to the same conclusions... I found a vendor in the US that carries the pd186's but landed in canada would run prob 800 a piece.  The eminence omega pro's look like a more inexpensive option and more available for me.  I ended up picking up a stack of 6 martin 115 bins last weekend for crazy cheap so I'm going to work with those for now, if they don't pan out Ill take another look at the es18's.
