Few months ago, I transformed an old furniture into a double 15 reflex box for fun and I was wondering if it would be ok to use it for bass section or maybe sub section before I build two 18" Gsubs. I build it with what I had so there is absolutely no acoustic science in it and I was planning to place two PD156 in there. Here are the approximate measurements :

Height : 39" 1/2
Width : 26" 1/2
Depth : 17"

Each speaker holes have their own rectangular port 6" 1/2 under them.(same length as the speaker hole)

14" by 2" 1/2

What if I use it ?!

Will it make a noise? Yes. Will it be optimal for that driver? Probably not.

Spend a couple of hours learning the basics of winISD. Its a free download and an evening will have you able to answer your own question properly.

is the port just a slot or is it a tube (just the thickness of the baffle, or does it have length?)

if my maths are right your box is about 280litres ish outside dimensions. Once you make a port and add that in (and then subtract the volume of the port and probably 4 litres each for the drivers to give the net volume of the cab ) youre in the rough area for a double 15 sub.

Worth having a go with winisd and getting the port correct and you'll have a decent cabinet!
