Hello everyone!

I'm completely new to the speakerplans forum and I hope this topic is on right place :)

We start to build a soundsystem for bigger events (around 100 people at the beginning).

By now we just have tops with lower frequency limit of 100Hz, which will be replace when we are at the point that that subs are finished..

Our plan:

Subs:
Two X1 (xx – 60Hz) with B&C 18 TBX 100 (we read this is a good alternative to P Audio SD 18)
Four HD 15 (60Hz – about 100Hz) not sure with which driver (we take a look to the Eminenz Kappa 15 LF)

Crossover: Yamaha SP2060 2in 6out (used) or the t.racks DSP 206

Amp: Until now we have a t.amp 4-700 for our top and are not sure about which we want to use for the Subs..

Is it a reasonable plan so far?
Do you have any recommendations and helpful hints for us?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

I see no reason to use 4x 15" kicks when you only have 2x 18" subs.
For every octave down you go, you need 4x displacement to keep up the SPL.

ie, 1x 15" going to 80Hz will be as loud as 4x 15" going to 40Hz.

You'll find your system much easier to use if you use the 18" B&C drivers in ported boxes, running up to 100Hz. For 100 people, there's no benefit in using a 4-way system. Just more headaches as you try to get all the components working together properly.

Chris
