I'm looking to upgrade my DSP, currently using an ultradrive.

I need something with 2 in and 6 out, with the option of a 5-way mono setup.

Budget £200-300 ideally

Purchasing a Driverack to replace a ultradrive in my opinion would be downgrading.

Heard good things about these DB-Mark units People seem to be using.

I've upgraded from Ultradrives to the DB Mark, and while the UI isn't as good, everything else is better.

I quite liked the idea of the Auto EQ/Setup wizard functions with the RTA mic, although I have no reference for how reliable this feature actually is. Do you know of any other units which have this capability?

I have never heard an auto set up worthy of its name.

Use common sense and as a last resort your ears.

As has been mentioned many times on this forum the DCX is a hard to beat until you get to XTA and even then the additional flexibility of the DCX often comes in handy.

The DB Marks sound noticeably better that the DCX in an a/b test.  Cleaner and clearer.

Maybe, but they need to considerably upgrade the GUI and the way the unit connects to a PC.
For DCX you dont need a PC at all ever.

If you are in a market for a really good DSP with IIR, FIR, DYN EQ, Networking... that is not XTA money but still made in Germany, let me know.
Same units in a module form are used in the Lacoustics amps.

Im on it Marjan ;)  I dont have any issues connecting the DB Marks / Neptunes, i just plug in the USB and click connect, the latest ones have network built in as well.   I agree the GUI is painful to use but thats the same on pretty much all DSPs, i always use the software.  Yes the DCX is easier but try listening to it A/B vs a good one, there no maybe about it, even the Chinese units i tested sound better the DCX.

Full spec will be up on the site within a week or so.
In short, 4in 8out, IIR, FIR, DYNEQ, peak and rms limiter, networking, dante as additional option.

So a DCX wins over a DriveRack,

But DB Mark is the next one up the ranks from that?

Does anyone else have an opinion, or another reputable brand to offer?

I run a Xilica xp4080, super reliable 4 in 8 out,
The on board screen is very basic, could use it in a pinch but I connect the unit to a router and control wirelessly from laptop, software is good, sound quality is superb.
There is also software available to connect the unit to your phone and monitor / change levels from it, for me the phone control tops it off.

Disadvantages of xp4080 are the basic screen & the cost of them.

Xta processors are amazing, possibly some of the best.
DB mark I have heard are brilliant, nice and cheap, been around for awhile now too so tried & tested.
Dcx are great units for the price point,

Try borrow a more powerful/higher quality processor to see if there is any audiable upgrade for your own soundsystem would be best.

Go for a dbmark xca+.

After a long time of faithful service my BSS omnidrives started failing regularly so needed a replacement.
Used Dcx’s as a stop gap while looking for something better.
Compared loads; ev dc, minidrives, dbx driverack, KT dn, Martin dx0.5, ohm, XTA, dbmark dp and xca.

I found the dp series a little limited in function, but the xca series is wayyy better.

Xca sounded much better than my old omnidrives and other offerings on the market. Had a solid build, good routing flexibility, competent limiting, front panel control and GUI isn’t that bad (although could be better).
You’d have to spend xta money to get an improvement imo.

The Martin dx0.5 is a good option to look at for the price range also.

I now use armonia or back to analogue management but if I needed I wouldn’t hesitate to get another xca or xca+

In the same boat here. Currently use an ultra drive but have recently been borrowing a DB mark 8 out.

Way more user friendly than the behringer, easy to navigate and cleaner sound imo.

Found one on blue Aran for £280 before Christmas

The DP series is more within my budget, can't quite stretch to XCA at the moment, but what extra features do they have over the DPs?
