Is this okay? Don’t want to hire another mixer if this will do.
I’m still stuck in the world of vinyl and know nothing about these modern deck things.

Thanks again!

Yes of course just connect the CDJs to the line input jacks, the phono inputs are for vinyl turntables only.

Cheers, was just concerned as they’re digital.
What is the point of cdjs, if you can just use an application on a tablet or laptop? These appear to have filters, eq, pitch etc. What advantages are there in spending ££ on cdjs?

Thanks again👍

they are mainly a control interface for a laptop now. very few people actually play CDs with them.

What can you do with them that can’t be done from an app?

The latest gen of CDJ’s don’t actually play CD’s.

A lot of DJ’s now use HID mode. This enables the CDJ to become a control surface for serato software and the djm900nxs2 can essentially be used as the sound card.

Thankfully pioneer have just updated the firmware on the CDJ3000 to allow HID mode. They nearly dropped a massive ball there not offering it upon release IMHO. Not everyone loves Rekordbox.

Allen & Heath xone 62 mixer is fine, you obviously can’t use the digital outputs from the CDJ’s and if your doing something with DJ’s who are expecting pioneer you may get some moans. But ultimately it does the same job.

If it’s just for you, look at the integrated DJ controller units like the XDJ.-RX You’ll save a lot of cash, they work with apps if you want to do that or standalone, and there are ones that take vinyl inputs too.

Mixing on a laptop without any physical buttons is weird. If you do want to try it, then Djay on iPad or a Mac is by far the best and surprisingly cheap. Once you've played with the mad AI tools it has to isolate vocals or beats from a track, you won't want to go back to anything else. Tie it in with a Tidal account to stream lossless music and you suddenly have a massive library of tunes to do all the cad crash mash ups you want.

Luckily they work with the controllers, too.

Cheers guys, I now have the DJ app on an iPad.😎 air horns and everything!
Can I just plug the iPad into a CDJ? There’s gonna be a lightning connector involved isn’t there…..
