is someone able to give a run down of the different db mark models?
i think it's time to upgrade my ultradrive, but not sure which to get.
other than the inputs / outputs, i'm not sure what the difference between the XCA and DP series, though i'm sure either will be a decent upgrade on the berry!

I recently upgraded from an ultra drive to a 2 in 6 out xca. Not used it a shed load yet, but first impressions are:
- Better sound quality - Intuitive and easy to use program on PC, I also found it alot easier to connect to. - Display on unit isn't quite as easy to navigate and use as the ultra drive. Easy enough mind, and I mostly use my pc anyway - I like the mute buttons assigned to each channel.
Thumbs up over all....

XCAs seems to be well built, decent sound quality with some good A/D D/A chips and opamps. It has a traditional linear power supply .

Not long after posting on this subject my DB Mark XCA has started playing up. One channel seems slightly lower in volume than the other. I've narrowed it down to the input section . Swapping back to a JBL DSC260 both inputs are dead on equal. So definitely the XCA.

you reckon that's a settings thing or there's an actual problem with the unit?

The easiest way to test that is to perform a factory reset or firmware flash on the device.
You can also verify the output difference by simply connecting a volt meter to the output channels.

Update on this. I fixed it. The issue was a dry joint, high resistance joint to the input op-amp. Everything else was fine on the board. Not sure why it happened.
These active crossovers are built well, solid construction and decent chips. It's unusual that it has a linear power supply (transformer, full bridge rectifier and voltage regulators) The only slight concern would be the cheap capacitors but that is the same to alot of modern products these days.

well, i got a DP28+
my initial thoughts: i interface isn't as bad as i remembered behringer is still better (mainly due to the screen) dear god that screen is BRIGHT (can it be turned down?) decent features i like the AGC on inputs, i was going to get a AVC (formula sound) but will so how i go with this
yet to comment on sound as i have yet to make some sound with it
no spaces or special characters when saving presets. weird
no manual, can't find one online anywhere. it's pretty self explanatory, but i love reading manuals... anyone seen one?

I know it's a bit late but I found this if you're still interested https://dbmark.co.uk/content/downloads/DP+manual.pdf" rel="nofollow - https://dbmark.co.uk/content/downloads/DP+manual.pdf
(I was searching for advice and info on alternatives or options relating to the classic AVC limiter and this thread popped up in search.)

After using a bunch od DB mark and other chinese DSPs over the last decade or so, i still belive that it is not an upgrade to the DCX. Untill your have 1K+ for a DSP, nothing touch the DCX. Argue waht ever you want but i stay on my opinion. :)

I gotta say though, the new XCA+ add more features than the last revision. Playing around with a fresh XCA24+ at the moment. They've added Dynamic EQ, and the software is better, plus now they are IP based and can apparently link a bunch up on a LAN, so no need to use the dial on the front. Chassis build is way stronger/better than the DCX. Would like more than 6 EQ points on each output though for fine detailing that would be nice but I guess I'm used to Hypex where they give 15 per output.
I've had a DCX since maybe 2014 with 0 issues.
My XCA28 since maybe 2016 and no issues except for an orange comp light that gets stuck on once it triggers on output 5 every so often. Think it's just the light tho, no actual limiting occurring.

Plus you can now edit what shows on the front page of the XCA so you can write "leave this processor the f*^k alone" if you wanted

does the password protection disable the front panel or does it just lock you out the control software?

Looks like you can lock all the hardware functionality on the device with a password or just some of it: edited for image issues

They do seem like good units and I did like my DCX a lot when i had it but sadly I had to sell it a while back. I've since picked up a BSS Soundweb 9088iis for a good price, which is working ok for me at the moment with the control software, but I'm not so sure about its relative sound quality - it might be a bit noisy as far as I can tell in my initial tests but I'm not sure if it's the rest of my system of the device itself. Have you used these Soundwebs much before MarjanM?

I have both the DCX and XCA28 in active use. I've done A/B testing side by side and I swear the dbmark sounds better.

Im using the xca28+ in a studio setting used a dcx before. First thing that was obvious was much much less noise making the sound more transparent and clear in the start. Now the nuances i dont know but the dcx was definately not made with studios in mind. But the xca has a small fan which has a horrid buzz , I got used to it tho. Wonder if it could handle the heat without it

Managed to get some more detailed tech specs from the factory, and did some investigation of our own.
Little summary here:
https://blog.bluearan.co.uk/db-mark-dp-vs-xca/" rel="nofollow - https://blog.bluearan.co.uk/db-mark-dp-vs-xca/
Feature wise, the new plus series of DP and XCA is exactly the same, same limiters, compressors, EQ, noise gates, filter, all pass filters and dynamic EQ. Programs are transferable between DP and XCA, as all features are the same,
Key differences:
1. DP series uses 'impedance balancing' on outputs - which isnt a true balanced output - used by Behringer and virtually every other budget audio product this is a kind of pseudo-balancing. XCA uses true active balanced outputs, which offer enhanced noise rejection on longer cables.
2. XCA series has better quality ADC and DAC chips for higher dynamic range, higher SNR, and lower distortion.
The new HDX series has even better ADC and DAC chips, and also better op-amps and improved output circuitry.

The Fan can be disconnected, the fan was added in the XCA series as they had a few customers in Middle East (where it can regularly be 40 degrees plus) with the occasional overheating issue.
In the UK, ambient air temperature is much lower, so you can just unplug the fan

We can ship from the UK. A couple of places will be taking stock in Germany and Romania in next few weeks.

No, its just an audio quality upgrade with a view to competing with the high end DSPs out there. Yes I know they need FIR filters... maybe in the future...

Andy has been exemplary in his handling of brexit from my perspective as an overseas buyer. No Messing with customs or anything here like nearly every other UK seller I've tried with.
Great job Andy.
(Edit to correct spelling of brexit)

So if you're a private individual, we can ship with taxes/duties prepaid. Our courier will make the customs clearance (usually in France/Calais or Netherlands/Rotterdam) and charge the VAT back to us. The goods then continue to final destination unhindered as they are inside the EU.
It gets trickier if you're a VAT registered business - we wont charge any UK VAT, but what happens on entry to your country is a minefield. France is OK, but in the past we have found some countries (e.g. Greece) to be hassle, with the customs apparently controlled by the local mafia and holding your goods to ransom for extortionate fees.
