I have just come across this page on the Regiscene website. It's full of pictures of equipment mainly from the 70's and 80's, when they were a Martin / Midas house.

That website isn't well known to those of us on this side of La Manche, and I've never seen any of these photos before. They even include a couple of shots of the monster SRF1600 cabinets that Dave Martin designed and built for them as an exclusive system.

enjoy...

Good find Sir!

Yup, that Dire Straits system is going to make some noise...48x Martin 115's, and that's just one side of it. Clap

Brings back some memories for me and quite a few bad ones as well.
Back in the seventies there were a lot of PA hire companies(mainly the London based ones) who failed to realise that PA systems needed to be arrayed in arcs to suit the dispersion of the component cabinets being used and it took a fair few years for the penny to drop on the subject---The result was a lot of touring productions and bands that were extremely loud but the sound quality was atrocious.
Promoters and venues could not understand why we were speccing deeper than than the standard PA wings and staging sections so that we could array our stacks correctly but when they could see this in use they could understand what we were trying to achieve and went along with it.
As most people on here are after sound quality first they understand a lot of the problems involved in achieving this end goal but to this day, I still see and hear badly designed and run systems normally by people that have not got a clue what they are doing and you only have to look at some of the Newbie questions on this site to verify this.
Some listen to the knowledgable well experienced members on here and some do not---The hardest problem is sorting the members that do know what they are doing from the advice given by members that have not got a clue and who came on here a couple of weeks ago asking for help and advice on a similar problem themselves.
