I would have no reservation, using amp with 2x 4 ohm drivers per channel.

I personally, would prefer 9001 or K20, or 2x other amps, to power 8x drivers.

But then most hornloaded cabs, with 8 ohm drivers are more like 12 ohms.

So you are not actually dealing with 2 ohm stereo.

Would personally suggest 2x Void Inf8 mk2, to properly drive 8x Voids.

Also remember, Void Inf8Mk2 is rated at 3.6k per channel at 2 ohms.

Void V18-1000s are rated 1000W.

So even if 4x cabs per side were actually  2 ohms,  you still fall way short of fully powering drivers, which would  typically require 1.5x the power rating of your drivers.

Do yourself a favour, to preserve life  of amp and drivers, get 2x amps.

"Do yourself a favour, to preserve life  of amp and drivers, get 2x amps."

100% behind that. I really don't understand why people insist on over-stressing their amps. It makes no sense.

And besides anything else, one day the amp is going to say enough is enough and fail. If you have 2, you will at least be able to save the gig & carry on. Rely just on 1 and you invite disaster.

agree. nice to know an amp will do the 4 drivers in an emergency, but i don't think it's a long term plan.

Have always said, why buy big man, high powered drivers, only to under power them, or even worse, clip them to death, with amp, not strong enough, for the task.

Cheers for the responses, confirmed what I needed to know having been told conflicting things

Yup. I remember working one gig a few years ago where all the bass rested on one 10k amp. Amp went pop in the soundcheck & the crew had to scramble like f**k to replace. It was touch & go.  Ouch

Have ran 8 x PD1850s on a single Infinite 8 Mk2 on a few occasions in the past. No issues whatsoever.
