sw series is not for big horns enclosure check DS, but all depends on the horn segment/compression

Why would the 18SW115 not work for 'big horn enclosures'?

the sw115 is prb the best driver I have ever heard in a scoop period, the air it was moving and not loosing its lunch was remarkable !!! , it was a large chamber and feed one side of a crown itech 12000 it was an animal , in testing the 1852 blew it self to bits same cab and power etc ,the b n c lasted all afternoon and all night and is still playing now,i have all ready decided that when i have a change next time it will be that driver !

Yes Paulus, '52 not really designed for large chamber.

'52 and 18NLW9601 sound great in my Lev .44 Scoops.

From the specs, I can see 18SW115 is very similar to other drivers good in my cab, but i prefer 'DS series.

From T/S parms, can also see what you have observed, driver can take walloping and keep going, whereas DS more efficient, but will take less punishment.

51 is more comparable. Pauliepaul and Tony did a comparison between the 51 and that bnc in the rx jnr which was designed for the bnc. Threads on here somewhere. But drivers were a tiny bit louder than eachother at certain frequencies. The bnc is a physically deeper driver and naturally need 1 just in order to fit. Not heard 52 sound great in hardly anything. Other than levs scoop and a certain version of SB. Heard the B&C (think was DS) in QSS scoops wkend justt gone. They played well Clap

One cannot ask,  "which of 2x drivers would be better in Scoops".

As that would imply all Scoops are the same.

Put an 1851 in ASS S118, no big deal.

Put 1851 in my Scoop, or Shorty mini,  will blow your mind.

18NLW9601 and that B&C are modern drivers, you won't really hear them excel, if you put them in ancient old 1850 design Scoops.

That one sim of yours tells one thing, does not mean it applies to everything.
The 18SW115 has traits to be used in almost every allignment. Strong motor, strong cone, large xmax, large VC, high power handling etc.

I heard it in hogs , superscoops with some wood added so it fits and heard the danley th18 numerous times . It sounds killer in all of them . Never heard it in a reflex knowingly . Did you maybe confuse it with the sw100 that one screams reflex a fair bit more from the specs.
Now regarding the sw115 vs the 9601 , the 9601 might be the one thats more suitable offcourse.

@Natty

You litterally state that the SW series is NOT for big horn loaded cabinets.

That way, I am curious about your friend who told you that they are not suitable for that. The proof is in the pudding.. Sure DS may top it, but thats like saying 18TBX100 is NOT suitable for big hornloaded cabinets because the 18SW115 came around. While it has been used in one of the best known big hornloaded cabinets (WSXa).
