Hi all. First time poster, long time lurker!
I currently have a pair of RCF tt22a (mk1) cabinets. I do theatre mainly. They're lovely boxes, but I need more cabinets and don't have the budget to buy more TT's (or any other RCF's for that matter!).
One option is to sell the RCF's and use the funds to buy more, cheaper and second hand boxes. I don't use the RCF's to their full potential, and would accept a bit of a downgrade if it got me more boxes (2 per level, flown up the prosc of a theatre on boom arms, so 6 boxes ideally to cover 3 levels of seating).
I've got chance of some EAW MK2396i's, which are an install box. Specs look pretty good;

Being an install box doesn't bother me - i'm using them myself so they'll be well looked after (probably cased) and i'm happy to modify the panels to include speakons.
I've read a lot of good stuff about EAW, particularly around dance music. I also know Dave Rat is a fan of the brand, so there's pedigree there.
Just wondered what people's thoughts were? There's not much info out there on these boxes. I'd probably be driving them passive, as that's the way i'm set up amps and processing-wise, and it helps with my cable runs. They've plenty of rigging points on them although they don't have pole mounts (but I tend to prefer yokes anyway, so would probably look at a custom yoke for them) and of course don't have handles.

I'd be retaining my RCF subs (ESW1018's x 4) to run alongside them.

Any insight on them would be really appreciated.

The EAWs are passive speakers, so you would need to factor amps and crossover into the equation.

Thanks Andy, yep already got a stack of amps for them.
They can be run bi-amp or using the internal crossover. I'd probably opt for the latter just due to amp availability and to ease my cable runs (I've tonnes of 2 core speakon but not much 4 core).
