There are some 4756’s for sale in the netherlands. At 1900 euro quite a steep pricing though.

Mate has 6 x 4756 cabs and most of the components that go in for sale in Germany if anyone is interested.......  pricing would be a lot less than 1900, but also a fair amount of diy involved for the buyer LOL

Those JBL TCB cabs were a game changer to me in the early 90's and were my benchmark for many years . They had a 4 Stack of the 2x18's (4688's I think) installed in the Mean Fiddler below the Astoria. Standing in front during those sine wave drops from early Rave tracks made quite the impression!

Despite having 18" fane XB scoops at the time, I couldn't believe how low the huge JBL's could go and still maintain a solid level.

Great memories. Respect due.

I recall reading an article about the Ministry Of Sound Tour that was sponsored by JBL and used the Sound Power series speakers. Apparently during a sound check, they blew the windows out in a university hall.

Those TCB subs produce the best bass I've heard.  I still vividly remember them installed in a few locations in the south of the UK.

Very low distortion output from the opposing drivers that actually cancel out the harmonic distortion.  This resulted in a problem though as many of these TCB subs were driven harder and harder as you simply couldn't hear the distortion effects . Blown drivers were common in these.  Very low frequencies were easily produced at very high levels.

I had four of the 4726ap's with four of the 4745 2 x 15 reflex boxes under them all driven with bridged HH S500d's (one on each box) via a BSS FDS310 crossover

Super rig, but I'm wondering how all those top HFs and MFs sound in that orientation? Love the amps, but swapping those Behringer units for some period appropriate quality items would really let the system shine imho.

Not much to them. Just two huge chambers with one or two ports in each chamber depending on model.
And a smaller center chamber with two ports.

Four of these hooked up as surround subs in a "home cinema" setup is pure fun. Star wars pod racing gets a whole new level of entertainment LOL

Ah nice. I saw this photo on here before but didnt realise what I was looking at Smile.

You say not much too them, but being interested in the driver mounting, I was expecting a different configuration. It's helpful to see how they actually are installed.

So the smaller isobarik chamber arangement is opposed woofers in a common enclosure (4th order BP?), with the larger chambers being independently ported bandpass? Is there any signal filter circuitry or is it presumably all handled externally?

I struggle to get my head around phase allignment in this system. How do the timings work between the out of-phase ports and drivers? I know its not magic, but it's certainly magical! And no port flaring?

I've always been facinated by the isobarik arrangement (since the JBLs in fact) and why this configuration is not more popular. Many years ago I mounted a couple of 18's face-to-face and wired them into an old sealed test box I had and was impressed by the increasd depth and lower distortion from the same cabinet.  Is it because of the material cost of needing the additional drive unit? Or is the critical complexity of getting the ports and chamber volumes designed correctly?

In any case the JBL sub would seem to offer more extension, output and lower distortion than an equivalent volume dual reflex bin?

I managed to find a pair of 4752As, which I'm currently in the middle of completely refurbishing. If you look at my previous post, it took 14 years to find a pair! The plan is to run them 3-way via 2 x Crest 4001s and 1 x 7001 on the 2206 via an OmniDrive. Also in my possession are 4 x 4782A unloaded, if anyone is interested. These were purchased prior to the 4751As and therefore need a loving home. As I've said, I can post some images if anyone's interested. One of the cabs reads serial number 0003, which excites the geek within me.
