Does anybody know if there's any telltale signs of whether an Infinite 8 mk1 is the early version or late version? I've read that the early version doesn't do well at 4r bridge which is what I intend to use it for. I'm looking at getting a secondhand one but the seller only has a few photos of the outside of the amp.
Thanks

Only Void Infinite 8 Mk1, even worth considering, is one with paperwork certified, upgrades done.

I've been following them from over 17x years ago, when first ones came out, and were catching fire.

I wouldn't take one, if it was given to me, for free..

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. My other options for sub amp are a Proline 3000 or Infinite 7 mk2. Which do you think is best to run 2x Turbomax 1500 18s in 4ohm bridge?
Cheers

Which cabs do you have?
Do you already have the drivers?

I'm well acquainted with these drivers, and can tell you from experience, you will get poor returns for your money, if they are not in the right cabs.

I have Shortman deep chamber full size 18" scoops.

Yep know the ones..

Few years ago,  I heard Dance hall Reggae Crew, playing 4x of these loaded with Tmax 1500s.

Up close, they were thundering, 5M away, could barely tell cabs were on.

This is the problem with Tmax 1500s, unless in cabs, absolutely optimal for them.

That sounds strange. Never noticed that with the scoops Iration Steppas had back in the day which were shortman and tmax 1500. But anyway, do you reckon proline 3000 or infinite 7 mk2 for 2 scoops with those drivers?

If you always play 2x or more stacks, will be less of an issue.

Proline 3000 was great amp for bridging back in the day, I coined the phrase here "Bridge monster", because of it. But if you ever see the clip light, you have shortened the life of your drivers. 2x Tmax 1500 in bridge, will easily drink all that power, and make it clip.

Void Inf7 Mk2, was never really well respected as a sub amp.

Would suggest QSC 5050, or Crest CA18,  if you are intent on bridging.

1500s dont do anything below 40hz so make sure you hpf there and dont waste energy flapping the speaker around with nothing nice coming out of it. If you want the notes below 40hz sell them off and upgrade.

Completely agree.. Clap

With the right Scoops, and PD1851s/1852s, and Void Infinite 8MK2, effortless notes and SPL.

My mate spent 2x years trying to get decent sub with Tmax 1500s, in Shortman Minis.

Went back to PD1850s, and then spent next 4x years, just making money.

Thanks, will look out for a second hand CA18, doesn't look like they come up often though.

Do you know which 1500 tmax drivers they were? The Red I 1500 is the one for larger chambers so it'd make sense if they had the 1500i and it didn't sound great in a shortman scoop.

The Original TMAX 1500 had green surround, and worked well in "very" few cabs.

My mate designed the "first", really good Redeye Full Scoop, as he discussed the parameters. with the driver designer.

Then people started copying his cab.

Since then, 18sound/B&C 18s/21s have come out, which are less fussy than Turbomax drivers, and have taken over the market. Hence the top Dub sounds in UK, moved to 18sound/B&C.

Which drivers would be best suited to Shortman full size scoops? Around the 1500w mark. Got the scoops but yet to sort the drivers so open to suggestions.

There are Scoops around, of more modern design, that work extremely well, with PD1851/PD1852/18 sound.

Maybe easier/cheaper, to sell your shortman full Scoops, and get different Scoops, and forget about Tmax 1500s.

Then 1x single Void Inf8Mk2 amplifier, can drive 4x cabs.

I'm sure there are, but for the time being I just want to get the sound up and running as soon as I can and sounding decent. Don't really have the time or money to be buying different scoops now, so just going to load the shortmans with the best possible option for now.
