The 1850 horn is designed for the PD1850 driver.

The 186 horn is designed for the PD186 driver.

Out of the 2, I think I'm correct in saying, you will find more compatible drivers for the 186 horn.

basicaly the pd1850 and v-18 [only v-18 1000 ]
go in 1850 horns, pd186 and the other listed alternatives on the plans go into the 186 horn, in short the 1850 horn when equiped with suitable driver is louder and harder, and less musical sounding [so brute force] and the 186 is slightly lesss loud and more musical sounding, using the correct drivers is paramount here though so only use what is mentioned in the plans unless you know what you are doing, or itl cost you a bomb when you blow 4 drivers irrepairably when they only cost 20% less than the suggested drivers which wouldnt have died....

Are you after deep sub bass or just punchy kick bass?
How many cabs do you intend to use?

I don't believe you are gonna get much  sub from 1850 horns unless you
have at least 4 cabs.

Which isnt cheap.

im not sure what sort of bass im looking for, well im thinking of having atleast 4-5 cabs.mostly breakbeat, hard trance, hardstyle, speed garage an other free party music will be played though them.still havent decided what mids an tops to get.was thinking some hd15's for the mids, dont no about tops

Start again... what are your requirments..

Audience / Venue size.
Budget

I don't think HD15s and 1850 / 186 Horns are a good combo to work together (they cover a similer band)...

HD15s should be used in 2 way bass setups with real subs, X1s, Labs etc... They are a kick bass cab, not a mid cab.

1850 / 186 Horns should be used used in LARGE piles (4 per side or more) for 1 way bass setups.

Although they stick kick it out at impressive levels in smaller stacks, they will not go that low in small numbers.

You should also bare in mind the PD1850 is around £250.. if you can find one, the PD186 about £140.

Check out Heathrows Ebay auction.. 4 PD1850s!!
