the 2n is a similar story :( lively driver sounds nice easy to run , when start to really push the sub , the 52 was hands down better, (ass scoop and sam pbs scoop for ref)  , know 3 people with the 2n who have had issues when pushing them , all only used 50s before with no issues  :( Ouch

Yeah, simple comparison of 4-5x of the TS parameters, told me the story, straight away.

Just can't comprehend, how PD went from no compromise drivers, like the 50/51/52, to this..

Because its likely more aimed at touring solutions compared to scoops.
And no compromises means more expensive..

Much longer winding on the 1845 means it will be cleaner when pushed,  the 1850/51/52 might sound louder but i bet if you analysed it the 1845 will be more linear than the 1850.

Its more optimized for reflex as thats what 90% of the market wants,  the diy horn / scoop market is not that big really and they already have products for that.  There is no such thing as "no compromises" its just different balances of compromises optimized for different applications and different markets.

Far from every new driver put out there, is aimed for the small scoop society.
Linear is easyer to work with = R&D gets cheaper for the manufacture, so they earn more money on the end user.

IIRC, PA crews were using the 18sound 18NLW9601, for years, while Scoopists were raving about PD Scoop drivers.

Turns out, in compatible Scoops, with the sufficient power input, the 18nlw9601, is pretty much the King of 18" Scoop drivers.

Sure it wasn't designed for Scoops, but it illustrates, a high BL driver with right Qes/Qts, Xmax >=12mm, will excel in PA, as well as DIY cabs.

Raising the motor strength means more neo in this case. Which means a higher price (definately with current prices).

I've owned these drivers previously, and only sold them due to lack of use, during Covid.

Have to say, these are one of the few items in life, that do what they say on the tin, and is quite easy not to care about the price, when you see/hear what they can do.

A bit like a 2015 Mercedes C63 AMG.. LOL

That can be for you, but thats not the mindset of most (definately not pro manufacturers).

Besides, the 2160-1N should do the job in that case.

all I know is I used to run the b&csw115 and that is a different story compared to the new neo  offerings from PD, the sw115  is an absolute beast  of a driver Clap
