Easy

Get Software... from http://www.behringer.com - WWW.behringer.com

Get PC with REAL IE no USB serial port, I haven't found a USB dongle that will talk to anyhing I want it too yet and I have bought 4 different ones!!

get D9F to D9M straight wired cable Maplin, PC world, wherever really

Plug DCX into PC serial port, if you have only 1 it will be com1 if you have two check which one...

Power-up DCX

run software (you did un-zip it right!)

hit connect at top

on connection screen select which com port you are using, hit sync...

Hit return box on screen

your PC is now talking to DCX...

Easy...

:-)

Although I've not done this myself, I think this is the most common failing point. I, like others, have a D9 cable which is not wired straight.

Hey Josh...

By real serial port I mean a 9 pin male connector builtonto the PCB of your computer as apposed to a USB to 9-pin badger that may or may not handshake (chat) proper with your DCX, older PC laptops have them , most Desktops do (still, Just!) Mac users are probably stuffed, but that is more than a serial thing!!

PCMCIA serial cards are supposed to be alright.  Just don't bother with the USB ones.

Or choose a laptop with a serial port and a stereo line in - covers you for all soundsystem essentials (talking to crossovers and running Smaart)
