Hi Boys.

I need help with some designs' most of the music i play is reggae. And i do 2-3 gigs every month.

I know the scoop bins are favourites with the reggea boys' But I find them to big and heavy more suited for fixed application.

so I need some small but powerful designs. and if possible use 15" rather then 18" drivers. that will go low as 45hz. I rather have many small cabinets then few bulky and heavt ones.

question ??

Has anyone got any plans for a folded horn design(like Rog;s 1850)but on a smaller scale useing 15" drivers that would deliver something close as the 1850 ??

or the plans for the microscoop 18"".

your help is appreciated' you can contact me direct at

mailto:kersleyv@ntlworld.com - kersleyv@ntlworld.com

thanks

kersley

Hi, (..posted somewhere before but.. here it is again :)   )

"Microscoope" is for 15" unit!

-P.audio P150/2226 also works great in this cabinet.. C15-500lf will work ok (but with peak at 50Hz and -2db dip around 75Hz)

-Eminence Omega Pro 15,Kappa LF15 , Kappa Pro 15, Kappa 15 also works OK

Microscoope (with P.audio C15-600EL) single box specs;

Rear horn is tuned @47Hz

Sensitivity: 101db (@2p)

Response: 42-150Hz 3db

Cabinet is designed for use in stacks (ideally four or more per side.. but even single box per side works well for smaller venues). Bass is punchy but still very deep.

I recommend to set crossover point no higher than 130Hz because phase shifts/delays  characteristic for rear loaded horns. Low cut filter on 30-35Hz MUST be used with these cabinets to protect units from mechanical damage.

Thanks for the email Staiper.

much appreciated. I think my best bet is the 15" Microscoop.

I will have all the birch panels for all 8 cut by tommorrow.and built by next week.

I will have 4 stacks on each side.as you recommended.

PS once done i will send you the pic's

Cheers Mate

I've had success with 4 of these horns:

Because i had problems getting correct drivers to Finland with reasonable costs (taxes, etc. were too much for my budget) i used KappaPro 15LF instead (that seems to works well too in that bin!).
