Did my first gig last night. Spent last few days finishing off system, with the final Compression driver arriving on the morning of the gig. (quite panicking by this point). But tested to be fine. And soudchecked it at the venue and sounded sick.

The rig consists of 2 X1's (V18 1000), 2 Omnitop 212's (SN12B) and 2 CD boxes(BMD 750).
All running off :
        3 x QSC RMX 2450's
        1 x Matrix MOSFET 600
        1 x dbx Driverack 260

The flyer:

The venue is a barge moored up on the thames near Battersea Pwr St. There was only maye 150 ppl there. But was quality.

System sounded sick with CD's or ipod, but feedback from the X1's was messing up the decks a bit if playing vinyl, even with a pillow, foam matt and a paving slab under each deck! them things go low! There were 3 bands and couple DJ's.

Oh yeh, and it was Cartoon character fancy dress.
Alice, Lara, and April interviewing popeye...

One of the stacks.

Overall very pleased. First build, first rig, first gig. Went well, no problems, and had a good time.
Looking forward to building more and playing it more.

Safe

nice and thanks for sharing.
so it seems the x1 works for a variety of musical styles [we knew that but a little more proof is always welcome]
i can see live bands too, [must be nice to hear all of notes the bassist plays especialy the low b on a 5 string]
will be even more comical when you get some kick on the go.
well done and thanks again for sharing.

Er, because of the main pic of the x1 upright on every page of the speakerplans site I'd always assumed that the x1 should go the way up you've got it at that gig, but after reading this post: http://www.speakerplans.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=676 it seems to say that to get the best out of an X1 it should be on it's side. Or have I misunderstood? All looks beautiful tho.

I think i read that if you have to put it 'upright' then you should put the port coming from the larger chamber closest to the ground.

Still haven't gotten over that girl. Still pretty. Your kit is even prettier than last time i saw it BTW? New pics or was i that drunk?

lesson learned: Beer makes girls pretty, sound systems ugly.

here's a story that my girlfriend and I wrote for a friend:

"A funktion 1 infrasound bandpass sub went upstairs and began removing her horn extension and castor board. It heard the xta loud speaker management system calling the crown amp rack to bring him a new speakon connector. Always the gracious host and since the crown amp rack wasn't there, the bandpass sub took a connector from the moist toolbox.

She opened the door to the merc 709, intending to place the connector near the bulging wheel arches, so he could grab it when he came out. Instead she found the xta loud speaker management system, stark naked and wet, his flashing LED's and big soft black kettle flex powering up, a sight to behold. The bandpass sub could only imagine what his kettle flex looked like uncoiled, and the thought stirred her. Seeing her there, the bandpass sub didn't have long to wait. His flex unravelled and the LED's sprang to life.

As she stared at the obvious assets, she was embarrassed. The xta didn't notice; he was too busy gazing at her supple horn mouth. She was horrified when she realized, in her haste to get him the connector, her castor board had some catches opened. Her firm bracing and glistening polyeurethane paint were fully exposed to this slender, sound splitting processing equipment...."

Trust a girl to start humanising sound equipment.
