I thought it was about time there was a post explaining this.

If you want to include pictures in your posts first you have to register with a photo hosting website like http://www.photobucket.com - www.photobucket.com or http://www.imageshack.com - www.imageshack.com (and there are loads more)

Once you have registered you have to upload the pictures from your computer onto the website like this:

Once you have all the pictures you want uploaded you need to highlight and copy the writing underneath the picture where it says 'IMG code' like this:

Now that you have copied the IMG code you can paste it into you post where ever you want the image to appear. When you are writing your post it will look like this:

[IMG]http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g49/Jake_fielder/phototutorial2.jpMG]

But as soon as you preview or post it in the forum the image will appear!

I hope thats helps some people out!

PS. dont delete any pictures off the website once you have put them on or they will dissapear from whatever post they were in.

Yea, just use photobucket, its really good,

The left, center and right options determine how the text of your post flows around the pictures. The size option lets you scale the pictures to different sizes within this posting area. Note that the picture will still be uploaded in its full size; this option just determines how it's scaled within the content of your post.Cry

Thanks Jake.
I noticed one time I was able to copy and paste a diagram from a website straight into a post, without any hosting, like Photobucket. Haven't been able to do it again. Any ideas?

if you get the web address for just the image, ie one ending in .jpg for example, then put [img] at the start and [/img#] (without the hash) at the end, it should show up.

Posted By: Jake_Fielder

no, you need to upload to an image hosting site then post the link like on page 1

Posted By: kevinmcdonough
Date Posted: 26 October 2010 at 11:32am
hey

jake, like everyone else appreciate you trying to clear this up once and for all. But like pirlo it confuses me why people find it so hard, even when its been covered so many times Smile  It only takes two steps:  Upload to webspace, then link into your post.

In detail....

- The pictures have to be stored somewhere on the internet so people can then see them.

- With some web forums, they store them on the same server automatically (so you would just press an add picture button and browse through your computer and upload them to the speakerplans server or whatever) but due to the number of users and space limitations of this site we can't to that.

- Instead you have to find your own space on the internet to store them, and then use the picture button when your writing your speakerplans post to link to them.

- You have two options, firstly if you have webspace of your own for your own website and stuff you can use that to also store your pictures. Or if you dont have your own webspace already you can sign up for a free service like Flickr or ImageShack and store your photos there.

- Either way, once you have uploaded them to the relevent place you copy the URL....
(if your using your own webspace as I do this will be www.mysite.com/myfolder/mypicture.jpg  or whatever, and if your using a free service they give you the link to copy and paste.)
.....and then on the post you are writing on the forum press the insert image button and paste this address in.

and thats it, the pic will now come up in the post.

why cant you just copy and paste?

Posted By: Jake_Fielder

because this site doesnt host images, you need to host them elsewhere...

JBL MAN!!!! please lock this thread!! its been done to death :)
