Heres some plans for horns everybody's always looking for.
The Peavy will be better than the B36.
All of these cabs will get raped next to either the 186 or the 1850[off course]
The B36 is a piece of sh*t because the baffle the 18 mounts to is so short. You will always have a problem to fit a woofer.

So, All of these are bitches to build at the end of the day. You can just as well build one of Rog's horns an be better off.

This is what happens when you're on leave with a 3G modem....Wacko
I just hope most of the questions about the Cerwin bins you always see on the forum can be answered by this thread. I still don't know how 1850's or Looney's sound though. I do know how the AB36 with its sh*tty 18 sounds. OK for the price. Would like to hear it with a decent 18" though.....

Here you have the AB, SL and B 36's all with P-Audio E18-600A's. Looks good. The SD18 models The same, just louder.
All in all, all of them will work nicely when you use enough. Still too much hassle to make something fit in the B-36.

The OLD JE36 and AB36 CAN play hard dance. Don't know about proper live music. Wont you ask the Foo Fighters to see over next weekend?

Back when I was a cable carrying idiot we used to work with the OLD Intense system a lot. 8 over 8 a side with 9001 and 8001 running flat out on a field with rock. Was BRUTAL. I actually miss that ground stacked monster sometimes. The Sub218 was wonderful too on live gigs.
Never Ever had problems. Just not very rider friendly

Note to Three-Bee (and others reading this thread):

You have gone to quite a bit of work in doing all the sims, but you should keep in mind that in real use you will not get the low end and extension the programs show in sim.

This is what actually happens with well braced Baltic Birch boxes that are ground stacked. Maybe if the boxes were made of a lead-and-concrete with depleted uranium laminate you might get the gain shown in the sims. Made from wood.........

@three-bee
Only four for the first batch, maybe four a side in the future that if i will be building the vega designs. Knowing that my driver will work in vega designs, I have a lot of options.

At first, I was planning to build the WSX clones, its my top priority cause a minimum of 4 will player lower and louder. Not sure though if my driver will work on that cab.

do have any SIMS or the WSX?

It will get ripped apart quite soon after you fit it into a horn.....

Actually I don't really know. As I said, its drawn of the dodgy gif on their site. There is a panel that you see in this plan thats there so I take it that the woofer plays through a oval-ish hole, because it ends up dead center when you model the woofer between that panel and the brace. This is the 'revised' drawing.... So, I'm guessing its about correct. Best will be is to find 1 and look for yourself.

thats interesting!!!
the pd184 looks like it plays realy low but has rising response throughout the useful pass band of the horn, the c18 looks realy good though!!!
hmmm
@tda how long have you had yours and how much punishment have you given them? they seem to model well, id be concerned about the xmax though.....

Remember though, the RCF handles more power and has a bit more travel on the cone... All of that is 1w, 1/4space according to Horn Response.

keeping them alive im guessing is just a matter of staying within rms and keeping the signal path clean [so ie no monster amp and no piddly little amps being pelted to drive them effectively]
the pd184 and c18 are almost the same price......
hmmmmm i may be swayed here then.
@tda what do you think of your c18 wsx???
have you given them a decent spanking yet?????

\\\\\\\\\\\\\RCF ..- more travel on the cone..\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

rcf calculated X-Linear

(Hvc-Hg)/2+Hg/4

p-audio calculated x-linear

(Hvc-Hg)/2

(where Hvc is the voice coil depth and Hg the gap depth.)

Ok, sorry. Looked at the woofers again. Both should handle about 10mm one way at just over rated power....   That should move a lot of air in a horn, but not a V18-1000/PD1850. I know the 650EL slaps you around nicely in a smallish ported box though [2 per ch on Vortex4]
