New to the forum but will be posting a lot more and also building my own boxes, subs and tops, plan to follow soon, but work with 4x martin audio wsx subs and 4x martin w8c mid/hi, and had the choice of that a nexo and void system and went with the martin, the tops are beautiful and sweet and the subs are just lovely on the chest.

They are different horns so it depends what characteristics you want.
The 1850 horn will have a harder sound, possibly slightly louder but limited in it's low end frequency response.
The WSX is more of an all-rounder with a longer horn path and therefore more low extension.
For hard dance music the 1850 is probably what you want but the WSX will sound good with a wider range of music and definitely cope with DnB better than the 1850.

I've been messing around a lot this weekend at the works unit, We have a a couple of dual 18" subs with the speakers facing each other inside the cab in a V, Although we are talking about the 1850's and WSX sub, if you want sheer battering ram of low end stick a couple of 1000 watt rms 18' subs together and see what happens, when i get the chance i will plan them up on spec sheet, see what you guys think.

Four cabs, red 1850, blue WSX, green a contender. Not my sims mind.

That's the same cab, three different drivers rather than different cabs. Resonances wouldn't be in the same place otherwise.

I think that is actually a WSX - 1850 - Contender plot.. going by the file name... I think that's one of SimonRs models from FSP btw.

SimonR's models are quite conservative regarding the real thing - I know for a fact that WSXs go a bit lower than that. Have discussed it with him extensively, actually, and attempted to come up with a model that would reflect a WSX's properties. His actually predicted better response higher up for the WSX...It's a bit complicated how the WSX is completely different in real life, but as long as one understands this, it's all OK.

Search New projects forum for wsx, and you will read Chilli's account of How WSXs sound, not how they model.

Sorry for reviving and old thread, but anyone with experience or anyone with the ability to sim, would a rcf L18P400 perform well in a WSX?
