Hi there i am really interested in these two designs but there is no way on earth that i could afford the drivers i am trying to get something small that i can add to a later date

does anyone know what drivers could be used instead that are cheaper or does anyone know of other designs that use cheaper speakers

How much do you want to spend on 15" drivers?

This might help us tell you what you can get for your money. The p-audio 450 comp drivers are dirt cheap so if you're looking for something cheaper maybe you can't afford to build speakers at all.
