would x1 perform well outdoor? or prolly its better to have horns like 1850 or 186.

Currently i have 4 hd15. i am thinking of having 18s under them.

I would just build more HD15s

The X1 is a compact way to go really low. It's not as tight as a big stack of horns, but more compact. One X1 can go down that low.

So if you want a compact system then get two X1 under your four HD15, use a digital crossover and set it up properly. You can go loud and low then.

But if you want to grow larger then the 'build more HD15'-option would be better.

You'll need some more of them outside. A fact why the X1 sounds loud is the longer decay of the design. Indoors use extends this decay even further, so it sounds louder (it's psycho-acoustics again, the wacky friend of physics), but the sound gets more mushy (which isn't that noticeable below 60Hz). Outdoors, the sound is cleaner, tighter... but appears to be less heavy. This is the same for all resonator based designs.
