in a lot of the venus i play in, i usually use reflex cabinets.. some are maybe 40ft x 40ft, and others are pretty large... in any case, people are always right next to the speakers.... does people need to stand away from scoops like folded horns in order to get the real effect?

also, i removed some eminence drivers from a pair of my yamaha sw218.... can someone please let me know if they look ok to be used in the sites scoop plan? Its a 600w driver and this is what Yamaha sent me as specs.

looks like it should work nicely from what information you can glean from a horn resp sim.

You're a big man, but you're in bad shape. With me it's a full time job. Now behave yourself.

Thanks guys...  the model is JAY7011..  They come in the Yamaha Sw118 and Sw218 reflex cabinets... While I have 4 of these to test with, and they only cost about 110US new.  I have once more cabinet i want to replace these with something more powerful so i'll have 4 more... 4 perside is what i'll be shooting for, than put a reflex on top... that is how its supposed to work right... lol

i guess i can go get me some wood then... i never build anything other than reflex cabinets so all those cuts look a little intimidating

have anyone built scoops out of MDF yet? Not sure what the cost difference is here but I was wondering because I have some in my garage already. If works then I dont need to purchase new Ply...

I'm assuming you're playing music that requires scoops. search for posts by Elliot Thompson on how to integrate double 18s with scoops.

Otherwise there are better optimal things to put on top of scoops.

MDF? Sure, as long as you enjoy sealing it, waterproofing it and carrying lead weights on your back. Otherwise, it's fine.

Away on extended leave.
