here`s some of the mad link up last week!

which was our stuff...8 x scoops , 2 x noise control double 15`s , 2 x martin philis , 2 x jbl 2350 2" horns , 2 x jbl 1 " horns and 2 x jbl bullets running off the pulses and crowns

Linked with ! 8 x looney bins running off an ffa with bss fds360.

2 x court double 15`s with 2x noisecontrol mid tops . Dunno what he uses for amps etc !

4 x rcf fullrange with 4x ass folded 15`s and some double 18 frontloaded! (that`s running off the LEFT rack!)

Total nitemare to wire up, I used a bss multi delay to try time align all the different stacks but even getting the looneys to phase up with the scoops was impossible as the other rigs were too close and spilling over ! Gave up when the beers starting flowing freely!

Also had about 1/4 of the genny power needed. The looneys were running off 1 FFA which was excellent, the fact it was only getting 16 amps down a 100m extension was NOT good !...realistically only getting about 10 amps for 8 looneys ! We tried plugging one side of the ffa into our genny and the pulses dropped out straight away...gulp!

Next time I want a whole day to set it up !

better if i took the protective plastic film off from the lense. muppet....

edit: damn it, this always happens to me, text wrap kills long links.

anyway, you can just about see scops, martin 215s, single 10" mt122
(m101?) and radial compression horns in a few of the less blury pictures.
we
have another 4 of those which aren't quite assembled yet.

mobiele, what's going on with the cylindrical thing? does it go inside
those

phil, when you told me you had a 'little' tek going on last weekend you were
clearly lying through your teeth. that is a big fat beatiful heap of noise
boxes.

i'm doing a skate jam this weekend, the organiser just phoned to give me
the spec of the genny. "it's a honda 650" he says. "ah". i says. now follows
the mad dash of trying to borrow one for saturday. eek!

Do you have cutsheets for the Punisher?

I know Walter has a cutsheet in the sense of the size and number of panels, but I haven't seen anyone show the best way to lay it out on a piece of ply. I don't even have a clue how many pieces it would take to make a single Punisher? I guess I'm truly lazy for not wanting to do it myself.

ultra-bass before x-over. then i can run sub off that and 3way off the cross over.

and yes, its one of those new fancy invisable amp racks. that was a good buy, got it well cheep.lol.

out of interest & a bit off topic  does ne1 here know anything about the techniques (ie the actual algorithms) the ultrabass or other harmonic processors & thingies use?  Asking cos i want to play around with really beefing up the kick (and later low-subbass) of alot of the music thats played saturday night in my club (can do quite a bit with EQ, but always sounds waaay too obvious when i wang the eq preset to 'kick the crap outa the guys & gals infront of the 1850's, IE +6db 100-250hz))  gets hands over ears pretty quick tho   I'll take a pic next time i do it, its fun
You might say, so why not just buy an ultra-bass, that's too easy

cheers,
  Rob

The http://fanthom.math.put.poznan.pl/~gyver/crystality/ - Crystality Plugin for XMMS does harmonic processing, it's open source and the code is fairly well commented. It does not however add bass harmonics, I had been hopeful for that as well, but maybe it will give you some ideas.

I have the DSP 2024 I wonder if I could wring anything out of it, probably not as a SYSEX dump would just give me a bunch of settings, and not actual algorithms. What you need is something Behringer make that is software updatable and does U-Bass and then you can pull the algorithm out of that.

To Roborg:

I have a copy of Aphex exciter-schematic on my computer  (schem.+parts list). If You are interested, pm me with Your e-mail address. I haven't built it, so i have no clue whether it prosess bass frequencies or not. Anyway.. I think it could be at least modified to do so. (Effects-board at www.ampage.org is a good place to lurk funny schematics.. )

first I've painted the grille red, than I've glued the NEXTECH logo made from sticky paper, then I painted the grille with black paint.
After the paind was completely dried I-ve removed the paper, and the end result is obvious

phil is quite into the c-audio pulses and reccomends them highly. don't go
for the later crown version apparently, don't run them into 2 ohms and
NEVER bridge them. as i said, apparently. i crave a pair of pulse 4x300.

I like the idea of the design I must admit, all the power transistors on a heatsink, that runs front to back and has a fan blowing down it. Simple is often best.

http://www.c-audio.com/products/pulse.htm">

Cooling, and maintenance

Pulse heatsinkSimple, yet massive heatsinks with variable-speed cooling fans remove heat quickly away from the sensitive power stages. In fact, the thermal design is so generous that the fans rarely run at full speed, increasing their life and reliability.

Airflow through PulseThe air flow is from rear to front, keeping cool air coming into the amplifier and keeping hot exhaust air away from sensitive components.

The heatsink has been designed for very easy cleaning with only the lid removed. General maintenance is further simplified by optional clip-on removable filters on the rear of the unit.

hey guys sorry for the long wait for some pics. but you are gonna have to wait longer i am in italy at the moment sunning it up.

but i will give you a list of the gear i have

kit :-

matrix STR3000H , matrix ukp1000, 2 x15's 2x 186's

1x x12m (own design highly directional mid top cab but has been scraped because the low mid driver has some weird phase problems (f**ked up the maths behind it....)

2 px1812 (another one of my designs) which are dogs bolloks. mid tops with lots of noize ability.

as for other gear it would apear that i am a behringer whore. deq2496, dcx2496, fbq6200 and a ddx3216 mixing console.... (it does the job and i havent had any thing break on me as of yet so i cant complain)

the system is going to be expanded a tad as i am an amp short at the moment. so getting an other matrix str1500. solid amps what u put in is what u get out! also prob some more 186's and more px1812's.

any way pics will follow in a few weeks. but for now i am off to sunn it up again.

ciao ciao

p.s. nice pics guys keep them coming in

the carlsbro isnt mine any more. its my mates. just using it to power the x15's till i get another matrix amp. see the kit list in my previous post to find out whats all there

the PX12's are my latest build. they are the p audio C12mb and the bmd-450. sound lush!!! 186's are loaded with omega 18's. they sound great too.

any way

My rig and me. ( digi drives have now been replaced by digi drive plus and we no longer need the rack mounted micro wave! Bottle of rum with coke for mixer still essential). allen and heath mix wizard 12:2 mk3 feeding that with a zone 6:2 for the dj. (ps, dont stack bins as shown cos they dont couple with the ground properly, you just get loads of mid bass (+65hz up).

I dont have a nice system to show off..

Anyone noticed that the BEHRINGER ep1500 is so cheap,is the power ratings not even RMS but peak?

i dunno what to say about the behringer amps. that is the rms rating. but..........it does say in the manual that if you push the amp into cliping its protection circuits will kick in and turn the amp off.... also warns about the amp turning off when too much bass is played.....

so really i didnt want to go with an amp like that... seeing as dnb is bass intesive!! got a matrix str3000h for my bass and that has only got DC protection and current clamps for over loading. cant be doing with all this added protection bollocks! a good sound technician should know the limits of its gear.

the behringers are cheep tho and weigh nothing which is attractive.

does any one have them? would like to know how they ACTUALLY perform.

cheers iain

with just one a side i think you might not get down to 50hz...

I had it set up like that for my friends house party (1 top on 1 bin x 2) and it sounded good but it was outside and we were playing pretty rubbish tunes through it. If you wanted just one a side would it not be better to go for a different cab?

Here's our rig at Glastonbury this year:

And one stack...

We love the Turbosound Aspects. The pattern control means hi SPL without any spill onto the stage and keeps the festival organisers happy coz we can contain the sound more easily.
The new polyhorn tops and high-mids sound effortlessly good.

Come and check out 3 times this in one lump on the back of our float at Notting hill... :D

@toxic, it normally depend on the venue but two outside stacks will either be stereo either side of the room, if a mono stack they'll sit ontop of the hd's and my favorite is a projection screen in the middle.

I stick 2.3k into each ohm, 3k into the hd's 1k into each mid and 300w into each high.

They need to be online first, put them on a website or at imageshack.com. Then just cut and paste them like in a Word doc.

hi, marjanM, they are 12b's with 1.4" comps. d3672's
(i think). Running them active and still playing around with the C/O. have been crossing it at 1.6 but have messed around higher and lower.

To get pics on you need to upload them from your hardrive to a host, you can sign up for free to www.Photobucket.com Then copy the url, click the box second from right with a pic of a tree (in the reply section of this forum) and paste the url between the 'img' thingys.

i was in a bar called ku bar (carlisle) last nite. on the top floor they had a dj + sound system brought in. was laughable tho. they had 2 scoops and 4 12" +1" top cabs all carpeted and stuff looked nice maby 3kw to drive it all. but they had f**ked one of the scoops.... thing was these guys were CHAV's (uk members to this forum will know what they are) and they couldnt figure what was wrong. i was there for 1 hour. the volume was going up and down and the music would cut out every few minutes so that they could try summing out. this was at 10PM!!!!!!!! bar closes at 1am. then the staff had the cheek to ask us to pay 7 quid to stay!!! the more i think about it i wish i had paid that 7 quid and stayed insted of finding another bar because it was just so funny to watch.

any way this post is a little bit off the topic of the forum but the moral of this message is chavs + speakers they cant seem to handle = a pissed off DJ + laughing audience of 100people + embarased chavs.

in terms of my sound system have just finished all the painting, does any one know where i can get some wire grill mesh. like a sheet of it kinda thing? in the uk.

@STIK_sounds

Try looking on the Pro Audio -> Speakers section of eBay, there's a guy selling mesh on there and he'll cut it to size too. Failing that the big mailto:B@Q - B@Q  stores have something similar

the second one is more impressive, but I Would recomend that you move the cvasi-horn loaded mid-tops above the 15"+ tweeter speakers to give you more trow of the mid -high frequencies and better kick from the 15"-ers at chest level.

what you got going on there then? driver and cabinet wise that is, looks like
3 line array style layout mid tops, two bass and a horn/bp hybrid sub? you
must be able to carry well over quite a crowd with that stack. a very
impressive monolith, but one for which i hope you had compression straps...

Hi James,

This exactly half of the system I have.

Tops are made line array way but i dont still made the gear to lift them up. They have two Cellestion Truvox 1225e and one Eminence PSD2002 crossed at 1800Hz.

Mids and low mids are exellent beside the fact that Truvox is not an exellent driver.

How ever i am not very satisfied how PSD 2002 sounds and looking for upgrade (any suggestions are welcomed).

Bass cabs are made by the Selenium plans and are loaded with two Eminence Kappa Pro15LF. The one at the bottom does not have a grill yet

I didnt do any mesurement for how low they go but I presume that 6 stacked together goes down to atleast 45 Hz. And they realy rock.

I power the rig with Peavey GPS 3400 amps for up to 120Hz and with Crest CPX2600 for mid and hi.

Procesing is DCX2496 by Behringer.

The rig sound very good and can handle up to 5-6000 people but i am still lookint for better compression driver. Problem is that very few are available here.

I was considering Oberton drivers but in configuration of 2x12 + 2x1,4 but can not find suitable horns that will fit two in 10 inches high.

Ok have fun and regards from sunny Macedonia

nice, i was just down in thessaloniki for a bit in greek macedonia, very sunny
indeed. the selenium designs are pretty cool indeed, i love the frento fundo
system (possibly not what it's called but it is based around the hb1505c1).
the obertons come highly recommended, who else do you have suppliers
for?

so loophole, were those running as actual left and right hand chanels of the
same mix? that would have been a very interesting comparrison, but could
have ended up spectacularly wrong! two mono systems perhaps... anyway,
how did they compare?

james.

the left stack was running mono, but I don't know how the right stack was set up, probably the same although they were taking the stereo feed out of the mixer.

I recently bought some B&C DE250's which I think are a definite step up from a PSD2002.  Polyimide diaphragm so a bit smoother than titanium, sound quite hi-fi to me, almost 3dB better sensitivity but still have the same power handling.

That is probably about as sweet a 1" you'll find atm if you can get a good waveguide to match.
