Hi,

I just thought about some (minimal) weight reduction in the Super Scoopers. I want to cut some larger holes in those vertical braces.

Will this influence the sound in any way?

Assuming the brace loses NO structural integrity then no it shouldn't(at least in low frequencies)

Just make sure the 15mm birch ply is at least made of 11 ply for strength.

Neo Drivers? Find a suitable Neo Driver for your scoops, that should take a few pounds/kilos off

Yeah that too!!!

PDN.18SB40 neodymium weighing only 8.5kg,QTS 0.32,BL 25.77,xmax 6mm, 4 inch vc,600w rms. Can see that Neo PD driver working in the super scooper!!!

Or P. Audio P18N Neo 18 inch weighing only 7.5kg.,QTS 0.26,BL 31,xmax 5mm, 3.91 inch vc,800w rms.

BL is well high of 31.

I bet if you make the super scooper 18 out of 15mm birch ply and use the P.Audio P18N weighing only 7.5kg, you could probably lift the scoop in your own.

Build it out of plexiglass, so you can use it as a fish tank when you not playing music through it.

Plexiglass is extremly expensive (at least here in Romania)

you might want to use a mixture of 18mm and 15mm for structural integrity

the baffle for example should be out of 18mm as should the panel behind it that forms the rear chamber

the rest you should be able to get away with using 15mm
