yeah ano, i had trouble getting both the sub's in as the 6x9's magnets dropped 2 low 2 allow both subs to fit in as seen in the pic's bellow but since then i have raised the parcel shelf and the magnets r not an issue, i unfortunatly popped 1 of the sub's so i need to send it away to get repaired so i only got the 1 in the boot just now but i will update when i get the other one in, u get the general idea with the pic's tho lol i have no boot anymore

^^^^ if i moved sub 2 left or right it touched magnets

allthough saying that you have fallen into the of the ppmo trick basicky meaning your subs are 1000 watt rms and your 6x9 are 150 watt Ouch the amps on the other hand are very nice 8000 watt rms at 2 ohm hmmmmm lovley wish i had the cash to throw at my car

yeah ano i allway put the pmpo rather than rms, looks more impressive im actualy looking at new subs that r more compatable with the amp ( http://www.audioassault.co.uk/Subs/12%22_Subwoofers/Orion_HCCA-12.2_Subwoofer ) and the 6x9's still sound impressive so im gonna leave them just now till i see somthing a bit nicer , i actualy bought the sound system before i bought the car as i knew when i got a car i wouldnt beable to afford anything extreme still for now tho the sounds i have will have 2 do , still get baddass bass from them :D:D

you want two of the 12" beasts in such a small cabin??? you're a mad man! Shocked

add 50-80lbs of sound deadening and it'll get even better.

If I'm ever going to install any speakers into my car, they are going to be at least something like this:

http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/auto/esotec/242gt.php - http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/auto/esotec/242gt.php

To be honest, I was expecting something cool with title "Car audio porn", and what I see here; typical 6x9s, talk about how cool PMPO ratings are and such. Not so impressed.

Posted By: mad4mp3z
Date Posted: 12 March 2009 at 2:05pm

all i said was the reason i say pmp coz it looks more impressive, never mentioned it being cool, i know its all down to rms but even at that the amp i have is 3000w rms and the other is 1000w rms i know the speakers aint up 2 sratch no need to badmouth the thread this is a audio forum so people should beable to talk whatever wattages the feel like without being put down i also said i intend on changing my speakers so whats the problem man ?? if you dont like the post dont comment on it just close it .

anyways any1 else want to show ther systems off??

I've tried that too, X1 loaded with V18-1000 and driven by EP2500 into Saab 9-3 estate. Felt kind of funny.

mine's in the works. nothing big, just daily practical. no pictures due to the crap camera dieing on me and me spending too much money towards projects...

the setup:
2x Tang Bang W8-740P 8" subs driven by a JBL BPX500.1.
enclosures are two 12.75Liter reflex tuned to 36.6hz and designed based on specific vehicle's natural bass enhancement characteristics. F3 of 34hz and usable range of 36hz to 120hz. setup is fiber-glassed in the rear interior quarter paneling. my guess is probably 120-125db maximum potential... but then again, it's nothing too serious. the rest of the sound system is all OEM factory Pioneer headunit and full range drivers. last RTA test showed decent lines so no need to replace the stock full range system.

From my 205 gti.

The first one is my current system, 600wrms mono from Blaupunkt and a JBL 8" rated 200wrms, that's headroom...LOL

The last 2 pics is three Phoenix Gold 12" and a Audison amp with 1500 wrms at 1,33r. This gave me 143dB and a fryed generator...Embarrassed 55A was not enough so I had to get an 120A insted...Tongue

Its a smaller set up than most on here & some of the kit is quite old, but its just right for the application.

The cabin of the car is very small so one 12" sub is plenty for the bass.
The boot is shallow & a funny shape so i have to use a ported bass tube to house the driver, very handy having the strut brace there to strap it to.

The amp is an old JVC digifine, i have no idea of its power rating but its plenty loud enough. The power cap is 1 farad & it keeps up just fine.

The door speakers are the Kenwood factory upgrade offered by Toyota at the time, all three components still sound crisp 14 years down the line. there is also a pair of full range speakers in the rear quarter panels.

The signal comes from a very recent Alpine head unit via a pioneer paramic EQ.

Its the biggest one i think, Its very heavy too. I'll get the model No off it later & do a search.

In terms of output it easily beats newer amps of a similar size. But like i said due to the small space inside the car high spl is achieved without a huge amount of watts.

There is a total of 11 speakers in that small space so the clarity is also very good, well for car audio.

I have a bigger set up in my van, pictured behind the car. Two 600 watt amps, four 6x9's & a large reflex box with two 15" subs. I'll get some pics up.

I have no desire for more gear in my car, horespower is more important than watts in that vehicle.

Thank You !  It's been a long road, mainly cause I'm sorta an anal perfectionist, so even though you don't see it, it has to look just as good under the carpet as it does on top.  I did a lotta research during the planning stages and been gathering equipment since Nov 08.
Question:
I have a solid woofer box :

Does this box need to be ported ?

Thanks but surely this would result in less power through each coil - I might give it a try anyway to see if it makes any difference to the sound quality - atm I have to keep the subs turned right down so they don't completely drown everything else out, I certainly don't need any more volume from the sub than I've already got.

The amp is a Juice JA690 and the subs are Audiobahn AW1251T

Need to upgrade the front comps next but I want to keep them run off the head unit, was thinking about these jbls
