Ive got an install coming up requiring a projector and electric screen. I havent done much work with projectors. Its going in a cabaret venue that holds a lot of works dinners and they are fed up with hiring them in and want something permanent. What make are best to go for / avoid. Gonna be ceiling mounted if that makes any difference.
Cheers Chris

Any chance of finding out what they hired in, then you know what ones to be looking at.

+1 for what Preacher said.
But for experience of projectors, I used to work in a school as a
technician and installed many projectors in classrooms and 1 in the
school theatre. That was a NEC4001 (IIRC), the difference in brightness
compared to the classroom ones (Benq's and HP's) is outstanding, but
then again it was £299 per classroom and about £2500 for the NEC +
£1000 for the lens! And they weigh a fair bit too! (Says the muggins
who carried it up the scaffold tower and hung it from it's bracket).
Also don't try and let them skimp on a decent screen, either front or
rear whichever one they use, as that makes a huge difference.
Also, several prospective suppliers brought several projectors into the
school to see what we liked best. That might be because it was a school
and therefore a good 'in' into the council, but ask, they can only say
no. (In which case tell them to get lost and you'll take your money and
trade to someone who will and in this economic climate I'd imagine most
would bend over backwards). Hope that helps.
