Subject: Martin Audio WS2A replacement driver

So the club I used to work at has the WS2A cabinets and trashed a driver in a cab. So they called me up asking if I knew what driver they use since they are no longer under warranty. I'm assuming that it's an RCF driver. So looking at the different RCF drivers, I see two that they could be; the L15P200AK or the LF15X400. Can someone help me out with this?

i'm not allowed to touch the cabs since I quit, they just want my advice on what driver to replace it with. They said they can see a tear in the cone, and that's all the more info I have, sorry I can't post pics, they really don't even want me in the place, management hates me. But being their sound engineer for 4 years prior to this, that's why they came to me for help.

Here's the output of the data that i've come up with, seems to match up fairly close to the specs on that cabinet. Also this was done assuming that it was at 3200 watts of power. Did this is WinISD:

This may sound silly but if they hate you, won't let you in the venue, then I don't see why you should waste time helping them. Point them in the direction of the nearest Martin Audio distributor or just guess the driver!

Why are you asuming it's an off the shelf component?
There's every likelyhood that it's custom made for Martin Audio by RCF or any other manufacturer.

I have some, but i'm massively busy, if i do get chance i'll have one out and find out unless you get something in the meantime.
However, that all said, i do agree with what others have said.
Personally, i'd find out what you can about the driver, and then call them and say, you can help them by replacing the driver for them. and charge them driver cost +30% + your labour costs at, whatever per hour.
People can start to take the piss very easily. And if you let them, they'll keep it up.

Well I will say, management hates me, but the others don't, bartenders, security etc, we still get along fine, that's why i'm willing to help them.

yeah, this isn't the first time they've trashed a woofer, but before it had always been under warranty, now that it isn't, that's why i'm looking for the driver. So your buddy that's reconing them, just you ask to see if he knows what driver they use? or the numbers on the driver? It would be much appreciated :) I don't plan on replacing the driver physically myself, i just want to let the club I used to work at what to buy and they can deal with it.

You should tell them its a custom Martin driver and they can only get it from Martin distributor. That way you get the job done, it costs management a bit more but that doesn't affect anyone you actually like there, so its fine.
You also need to consider your reputation and maybe even legal liability if things go wrong after the repair. Passing the buck to a distributor = safe.
