I'm trying to do a model of the punisher on hornresp based on where I'll be using them, but I have a problem. I'm having a bit of trouble finding out the rearchamber size because the design layout im going off of lacks all the info I need. my best guess is its VERY close to 38 litres, is this right?

the layout im using is this one

No need to guess.

If you were really keen you could copy the shape of the sealed rear chamber into a free cad program like Qcad, and it will tell you the area. Or work it out.

With working it out, 38.09 Litres is what I got, but I have a feeling its closer to 36 or 37 litres. Qcad wont register on my computer for some reason so I'll just have to go with what I worked out.

like the old "chippy" saying

Thankyou very much and yes I know about the displacement. The only problem is, actualy finding the exact displacement witch Ciare's home site doesn't give .

Haha that term I still hear around here sometimes.

Don't think they usually say.

Fill a bucket up with water, Wrap the Ciare in a good plastic bag, and dunk it in and see how much water was displaced. Just be careful

If only I could. I'm modeling before I build or buy anything so thats not an option. If I DID have one, yes that would be my first move to figure it out.

That wouldn't be all that accurate. The air between the cone/basket assembly is not part of driver displacement. That would be fine for a sealed back mid but not an open frame driver(if you want it to be 100%)

I've heard of people using 'foam peanuts' as you can move them around into tight spaces and then work out the volume of 'peanuts' you had to take out. Again this is hardly scientific...

Still, would'nt help much if i didn't have the driver with me in the first place.

I just now came across a german forum, and I think I find the displacement but I'm not sure. To what I found, I think its about 4.28 litres. Does that sound about right?

All I have to say is,consider how much a change in 50% of woofer displacement gives, almost no difference really. A 12" typically has 2Litres displacement yes?

Inaudible differences!,so dont fret and carry on with the simulation with an approximation.

Make sure you have no airleaks inside the cabinet before you glue the second side panel onto the cabinet. Airleaks will cause nasty sounds and bad performance. What amplifier are you going to use to drive them?

Best regards,

Walt
