Unit bellow the pre is a Zoom multi fx unit.. not that good really, but cheap as chips and does a basic job OK.

The Siren was made for me by Russ Disciple back in the mid 90s sometime.. NJD type thing.. you know the score Wink

Looking damn fine! Is that mainly a cosmetic custom job or are there some other features not present on the standard 4-way?

Tweet whats the unit under neath ur pre amp? obviously delay unit but model?

Posted By: russ d
Date Posted: 27 August 2009 at 7:55pm
its a boss dm100... its sort of like the half rack rdd10/20.... but has a hold button on the delay, cant remember if it could also do lower delay tempo`s than the rdd`s... still, i never thought the dm100 had the same kind of sound as the rdd`s, it did`nt seem to feedback with the same edge, like it was a bit too clean... but otherwise it does its job.

Hail again Majic,

My only thing with the knobs (as my backup preamp has those knobs) is that when you playing in a packed dance and your fingers get a bit sweaty, they can slip when you want to roll the bass or quickly turn one of the controls.

So what i did was swpped out some of the most used knobs to the ridged knobs to give me a consistant grip with less slip when i am in full swing in the session.

Just based on my experience.

But looking good still.

Respeks

Thats 2 octaves of upper bass missing, all the kick frequencys, with the scoops getting +12db of 20hz fed from the bass EQ. Surely that cant be right!? Confused

''heavy weight bassline'' signature is certainly true when there is no upper mid.

Nice rack tho, where did you get it?

As I'm quite new in this my question might come by as stupid, but I'll try anyway :)  Why do some of you use double set of equalizers? Also, why do you have mixerboard/dj-mixer when you have a preamp? After getting preamp, amps, a reverb, what would be the next piece to invest in?
Bless

Posted By: mikey bear
Date Posted: 16 January 2010 at 10:53pm
there is a lot of stuff going on in that photo. i'm certainly confused. personally if i used a board after a preamp/dj mixer it would be for mic's/instruments/sound fx. can't comment on the eq's.

"what would be the next piece to invest in?"

I think its an excellent question.

Some folks feel that they can squeeze the right tone they want out of a speaker driver by adding a touch of eq which may not really be profound on one of the customised preamps (eg Tubbys, Mostecs).

So they would get an eq to compensate for this. The trick is to control this second eq with a bit of finesse, so as to not overcompensate and possibly damaging and/or distorting the driver that is sensitive to that frequency.

And then there are some that buy them just to add more pretty lights to their control tower.

A mixing board is good if you want to have another sound run off your sound system via their own Layer one equipment (eg decks, cd player, mixer)

you can run the output of their dj mixer directly into line input of your preamp, or via a mixing board which is connected to your preamp.

I did it a few times via the mixing board setup where my sound was hired out to play this sound clash bashment dance.

i had a 16- track mackie mixer going into the preamp.   and then had the mixer of one sound on one channel of the mackie and mixer of the other sound on next channel.

After some sound checks tweaking due to them using different model mixers, it all came out good at the end.

Once you get layer one and twos, then your work on your speakers. you can either have the cabinets built to your specs, or buy ready made cabinets and just put in your speaker driver of choice.

respeks

Yes  it is because on this model there is no wheel for weight adjustement.
The space echo is nice but I also have a Echolette tube tape delay and a Binson tube Echorec.

Here a clsoe up of the preamp. Yesterday Disciple played on it ina revival style. Wicked session.

yes Jo , there is a wheel for weight adjustement, trust me it was my garrard !! :)
on the tone arm , at the end , yu have a screw on top of the white arm .
just turn up this screw and yu will see the cartridge have less or more wright on the vynil .
cant remember which direction yu need to turn to have more or less of weight ... test it :)

please check yur pm !!
