Hi

this is as geeky as you like but.... I have have a server system that I have just added a dl185 Win 2008 box to which required pushing all my SVR 2003 boxes into native AD mode, which apparently doesn't affect clients connecting just bins NT 4.0 compatability from the domain schema.

All good, ran adprep /forest, adprep /domain and all servers chatted happy. Prob is we have F****ing OS X clients in the company, the X 10.5x builds run fine and will link to smb://server2 but the 10.4x client won't anymore. there are several published fixes for this and I have disabled the require secure comunication (always) tab in domain security local policy as suggested but they still won't connect. I have apple talk working but replicating the whole file system shares onto that doesn't appeal.

I don't have the standard error 38, just a console full of negotiation errors. I have downloaded a 3rd party App call ADmitMAc which has sorted it but I don't really want to have to licence several copies of a third party SMB client for OS X tiger...

Needless to say the boxes in question are proper macs not the intel junk so can't run lepard (10.5x) so I am suck with 10.4x any suggestions not involving a 1000bhp conical mill and all the macs would be more than welcome.......

And on the same subjest anyone had any joy connecting crAPPLE MAcs to an exch 2008 svr??? I have entourage 2008 which is supposed to work but have had mixed reports.....

Confused

Tigers networking sucks.

G5's and faster G4's will run Leopard fine, if your still trying to support G4/G3 machines you should really consider upgrading. The Intel macs don't act as room heaters as a handy aside to their computer function LOL

With tiger I just used to browse to the workgroup and find the shares that way and connect using domain\user as the username. It is hit and miss though, good luck.

Native exchange support will come in Snow Leopard, which is intel only. Entourage supports it but its not the best program in the world. Email on the macs is the main sticking point really, all the apps suck
