Dear all,

I am quite new for this forum.Sorry for my English.

I am looking for sub for my live band. We play jazz and rock, outdoor. So we need  sub with clean bass and punch. 15" or 18" is our target. What is the suitable one?

Thank you.

What size of people crowd???

Something like 4 min[as its outside], 1850 or 186 horns or Looney bins[modified version of 1850 horns and only can be bought not made] would be suitable.

What mid-tops do you have? Do you have any amps already to drive the subs?

About 2,000 people crowd.

We did not have mid-top yet but we are looking for some design like EAW KF730 or KF760. Do you have any idea about KF700 sereis of EAW? We did not have enough budget to buy KF700 from EAW so we would like to do it by ourself.

I've used the KF750 (I think, was a while ago), seem like pretty useful boxes.  You may however struggle to build your own versions.  Your best bet is probably to look around for some 2nd hand kit.  Might even be able to pick up an entire system.

You need to design the system as a whole.  Picking a good mid-top and a good sub might not give good results if you end up with a hole in the sound between them.

The reason that the X-tro has two 15" drivers is that it was decided that one probably couldn't keep up with the high mids and top end.  If you want to go to a single 12" you're looking at a completely new design.

Take a look at the Limmer Horns at http://www.lsv-achenbach.de/shop2 they do some nice 12" horn flares and even combined 12"+1.5" flares, albeit at a price!
