I did this once and the amp caught fire inside next time i switched it on
that was a slow blow fuse.. i just thought an 8 amp fuse would blow at 8 amps.. knows

reality is meerly a compilation of what our limited sences precieve as being fact therefore there is no true universal reality and as such i propose that space and time can be bent twisted and altered

You can tell by the letters which are usually stamped into one or both end caps on the fuse. 5AT or T5A is anti-surge 5A, for example. 5AF or F5A is fast blow 5A. The same lettering code is often printed next to the fuse holder.

According to the Mackie service manual, the fuse should be an 8A SLOW BLOW type.

Usually the mains fuse on an amp is the slow blow type due to the filter capacitors initial inrush current which can pop a fast blow fuse.

Thanks again for your replies.
Some say slow some say quick.
In service manual its a 8a sb fuse which i presume is slow blow(sb).
So looks like slow blow.
I will email them just to be 100% sure.
Thanks everyoneSmile

Make sure it is a ceramic type, they have powder in them to quench the arc that forms when they blow.
